Ciocco’s GCW Presents: Effy’s Big Gay Brunch 11 Review

Hello everyone, and welcome to my corner of the 411Mania universe! After all, with the sheer number of shows taking place during WrestleMania weekend in Las Vegas, I couldn’t simply let the other esteemed writers on this site have all the fun now, can I?

The 11th annual edition of Effy’s Big Gay Brunch as presented/backed by Game Changer Wrestling provides the opportunity for everyone to enjoy wrestling in all of its beauty, no matter who you and what you choose to represent. To that end, we have a fantastic variety for this year’s card on tap for us!

On a card that, as of the time that I am doing this introduction, features six matches, all but two of them are of the singles variety. In what I assume will be the main event of the show, the namesake of this event, Effy of course, will face off against Zach Sabre Jr, and I for one am very interested in how these two get on in the ring. Mercedes Martinez, who plans to hang up the wrestling boots when 2026 comes to an end, will compete against Vipress, Dark Shiek will face-off against Nyla Rose (hey, nice to see Rose wrestling SOMEWHERE these days), and GCW mainstays Brick Savage and Mad Dog Connolly will face off, presumably in a deathmatch.

Out of the non-singles matches that the card offers, we will have ourselves a Twink Gauntlet Match. We know that the big man they call Parrow will be in it, but who else enters remains to be seen. And finally, we will have a four-way match, as Steph De Lander, Charli Evans, Allie Katch, and Kidd Bandit will face-off.

So, grab your brunch, fly the rainbow flag, and let’s get it on!

As with most all weekend shows in the area, we are LIVE from the Horseshoe in Sin City AKA Las Vegas, Nevada! Veda Scott, Val Capone, and Cosmo are on commentary, but they will have guests along the way.

So, the show claims it is starting at 2:00PM EST (which would be 11:00AM in Vegas), but then I am greeted with a screen with the show’s logo, the Collective card, and a countdown from ten minutes. Solid!

So, after the clock reset a couple more times, it looks like we’re heading for a 2:30PM start. Still time for brunch for the people in the PST and MST at least.

Alright, the screen has finally progressed! We get a video package from prior year’s versions of the show set to music.

THE…LAST…OUTLAWS! LONG… LIVE…GCW!

In-ring introductions now. Welcome to the Querist, most anticipated event of the calendar year, Effy’s Big Gay Brunch! This is the real reason you came to Las Vegas!

Effy is out with Cosmo. Effy helps Cosmo up the ring steps after some dancing with the fans and the ring ropes are held open. Cosmo has the mic. Hello everybody! Thank you for coming! How the fuck did I get here, I don’t know. Two years ago, Cosmo gave testimony on addictions, and now, two years later, Cosmo is clean and sober! SOBER COSMO chants. Cosmo wants to thank Effy for hosting this big gay brunch. Cosmo met Effy in his dressing room in Melrose last week. Next thing you know, Cosmo is being invited to the Big Gay Brunch, and now you’re here!

Cosmo checks out everyone who is already in the ring, including So-Cal Val from TNA fame, and Amy Rose, who I do remember from being in Ring of Honor (the OG version, not the AEW version). Everyone except for Rose clears the ring, and we are getting our first match.

But wait, we have B3CCA here for a musical performance! Girls like us, we don’t give a fuck. And this repeats for a while, as we get entrances for a ten-person, lucha rules match!

Lucha Rules Match: Team Havoc vs. Team Dixon

Gabby Forza, wearing a cone hat, is so kind that she came prepared with a cone hat for all of her teammates. Team Dixon has seen enough, and they attack before the bell. Everyone goes to the floor except for Brooke Havoc and Billy Dixon, who is sat in a chair in the ring. Keita is here and wants to dance, but she doesn’t feel that and hits a flying head scissor instead.

Hunter Gallagher is in with a cartwheel back elbow and an enziguri. Monomoth is in, and there is dancing with Hunter and Monomoth. Double Bronco Buster! Anton Voorhees is in for Team Havoc and gets a two on the pin. Voorhees tags in the Master of the hat, Gabby, who spins Devon Monroe around in an airplane spin before dropping Monroe to the mat. Team Dixon, once more, all enter the ring and ambush Gabby.

Keita The Gooner is in and Gabby gets slapped. Billy Dixon puts on Gabby’s own hat and headbutts her in the ass. YOU CAN’T SEE ME! Dixon hits the rope and drops the leg, but Forza kicks out at two. Jordan Blade is in with a snapmare and a big boot. Blade remains in a stylish business suit while wrestling. Gabby has had enough, as she knocks every member of Team Dixon from the apron, but Blade drops Gabby.

Monomoth is in and wants to dance with Blade, but we get some behind action instead! Hunter is back, but Blade gets behind him as well! Blade wants to mount Gabby, but she gets PISSED and rips off the jacket of Blade! Overhead suplex from Blade which Gabby no-sells and hits one of her own. They’re both down on the mat. Anton and Jai Vidal are back, combination kicks from Vorhees leading to an enzuguri and a corner charge clothesline. Down come the pants, but one of the “Kids of Jai” enter the ring and Anton hits a SUPERKICK instead. Jai uses that to his advantage and hits a SUPERKICK of his own.

The match turns into a hit your shit spot, much like any multi-person match. It ends with Anton and Keita; the latter brings a chair into the ring. Anton ends up in the chair in the corner, the music hits, and The Gooner is going to strip! Hunter is back, as the Gooner is mesmerized, but not enough to hit him in the dick. Hunter recovers and sends Keita to the floor. Monroe is back and hits a Tope Suicida! Havoc and Monomoth head to the top, stereo planchas!

Keita makes the climb, but Voorhees drops him right on his jewels. Thrust kick from Voorhees, he heads to the top and hits a German to the apron and onto the pile! Back in the ring, Voorhees to the top, moonsault into an elbow! The cover, but Dixon with the save. Dixon with a Widow’s Peak, and Team Dixon wins!
WINNERS: Team Billy Dixon
TIME: 14:15
THOUGHTS: A fun opening lucha match. Some creative spots, including the German Suplex from the top to the apron and to the floor.
RATING: ***1/2

Video package for the next match between Mad Dog Connelly and Brick Savage, set to music, and it poses the question, “What Was I Made For?”

Brick Savage vs. Mad Dog Connelly

The bell rings, as Connelly and Savage size each other up for a bit, and we get a kiss! The fight gets on, as forearms are traded, and Savage sends Connelly up into the lights. Mad Dog goes back to lariats until he knocks Savage to the mat and gets a two. Mad Dog continues with the lariats, but Savage fires back with an Atomic Drop, a shoulder tackle, and a leg drop. The pin for a two.

Cosmo has rejoined commentary and says that these two are rising up the ranks of the QWI 500 as Connelly chops Savage. Brick eats them and delivers his own chops, but Mad Dog sends Savage to the floor. Connelly to the apron, running knee strike connects! Mad Dog with headbutts, but Savage rams Mad Dog into the ring apron and throws him into the ring. Savage heads back to the ring, but Connelly has his chain and he hits Savage in the head with it. Savage is busted open as he continues the assault. He licks the blood of Savage on his arm and rubs it on his face to a chorus of YOU SICK FUCK chants.

Connelly continues to beat Savage with the chain before getting a two on the pin. Savage implores Connelly to hit him again, as he is back to his feet and shots are traded. Connelly gets the better of the exchange until Savage goes to the gut and headbutts Mad Dog. Savage with an overhead toss to Connelly for a two. Brick to the top rope and he hits a splash, but Connelly kicks out at two. Savage again heads to the top, but Connelly meets him up top. He gets shoved down, but Mad Dog jumps back to the top rope. AVALANCHE GUT WRENCH SUPLEX FROM THE TOP! Mad Dog is slow to the pin, allowing Savage to kick out at two.

Connelly punches his own forehead and headbutts Savage, but he kicks out at one! Connelly goes for the sleeper, but Savage to his feet and he rams him into the corner. Corner clothesline, Lariat, and gut wrench into a front face suplex gets Savage the win!
WINNER: Brick Savage
TIME: 9:20
THOUGHTS: Big meaty men slapping meat, indeed! Blood and chain additional!
RATING: ***1/4

Amy is back in the ring to introduce the next match!

Mercedes Martinez vs. Vipress

Apparently, Vipress is “Your Mother’s favorite chulo”. I’m not going to dispute that one. Billy Dixon has now joined the commentary team as the bell rings. Martinez and Vipress come face-to-face, and Vipress spits in her face. Martinez with two roll-ups for a two count. Martinez launches into the Three Amigos but gets a two on the pin.

Vipress escapes Martinez and trips up Mercedes in the ropes. Running boot from Vipress sends Martinez to the floor, and Vipress hits a Tope Suicida! Vipress returns Martinez to the ring, but Mercedes surprises her with a high stack for a two. Martinez toys with Vipress a bit, and she tries to lift up Mercedes, but that doesn’t happen. A second attempt fails, as Martinez lays in strikes. Vipress with self-defense corner elbows that leads into a DVD in the corner! The cover, but Martinez kicks out at two.

Martinez slaps Vipress while taunting her. Spider Suplex, Martinez takes her time coming down and pins her for a two.

Martinez corners the ref and questions her count. Mercedes slaps Vipress in the face, and she goes dead ass. IT’S A TRAP, as Vipress hits a CUTTER! Piledriver from Vipress! A second one follows, and Vipress wins!
WINNER: Vipress
TIME: 9:10
THOUGHTS: A lot of action packed into this match. A lot of no-selling, but a lot of impact moves as well. Martinez putting over Vipress, on her way out in eight months, was the right call.
RATING: ***1/4

Martinez heads out, but here comes Cheerleader Melissa! She stops Martinez, points towards the ring, and proceeds to head to the ring, where Vipress is still. Melissa grabs Vipress by the hair and kisses her! Martinez looks like she is jealous, and Taya Valkyrie is here! She bends Vipress back and kisses her! Martinez is still mad! Vipress brings both Taya and Melissa in, three-way kiss! You get a kiss; everyone gets a kiss!

The fatal four-way is coming up next! Jada is back, now rocking a colorful dress and a Japanese fan to introduce the combatants.

Charli Evans vs. Steph De Lander vs. Kidd Bandit vs. Allie Katch

The commentary team is hot for this one. Allie is apparently wrestling her last show because she lost last night. The bell rings, and Steph De Lander says this is her ring. Everyone else throws her from the ring, allowing Katch and Evans to target Bandit next. Katch smashes Bandit in the corner with clotheslines and stomps around the ring. Bandit catches her the third time and kicks her in the face. That’s followed by a kick through the ropes.

De Lander pulls Bandit from the ring and to the floor. Evans looks for a PK from the apron, but De Lander carries Evans around the ring before dropping her face first on the apron. Bandit kicks De Lander in the head and proceeds to do Ninja moves to throw Katch off her game. Bandit boots Katch, De Lander boots Bandit, and Evans boots Steph. Everyone is down, so Evans hits corner kicks to all of her opponents. Katch drops Evans and proceeds to hip check everyone in the match. Katch hits De Lander with an enziguri and hits a Northern Lights Suplex to both Bandit and Evans for a two.

Allie with a backslide to Evans for a two. Piledriver from Katch, but she’s too close to the ropes and De Lander pulls her out of the ring. Steph goes to steal the pin, but Bandit with the save. STUNNER to De Lander from Bandit!

Katch is back, as Bandit and Allie trade strikes. Katch sends Bandit to the apron, she avoids a kick from Bandit and hits the Bussy Driver (Heat Seaker) for the win!
WINNER: Allie Katch
TIME: 8:35
THOUGHTS: A lot of action in this one, as all four women got time to shine, and it was pretty much non-stop action.
RATING: ***3/4

Post-match, Katch embraces Bandit, and everyone leaves, as Bandit leaves her shin guards in the ring before departing the ring and interacting with the fans around the ring.

Video package for the following match. Apparently, Parrow has been on a mission to destroy all the Twinks, so tonight, it’s time for payback!

Amy Rose introduces Parrow first, and he spits water and stands on the stage. Out first is the Inferial Succubus. Apparently, they are the Anti-Twink club, so I am confused as to why they are here then. The team of Plutonic Romance is out next.

Oh, so the gauntlet doesn’t include Parrow? Weird lol.

Parrow Twink Gauntlet Match

The Succubus attack before the bell while Romance is doing their introduction. Double team moves from the Succubus, but Damion Desire breaks up the pin for his teammate. Double team enziguri stops that momentum, and they target Ritchie Coy. One member of the Succubus is sent from the ring, and the other one gets pinned, so Infernial Succubus are eliminated. Damion rolls-up Coy for a two. An argument breaks out between Romance, and Logan Cavazos is out now! Logan hits a sit-down Driver and eliminates Coy! Luxx has finally entered the match after getting the gear off and gets into the ring. It’s Jonesy is out next with stickers for the fans! Jonesy enters the ring and hits a Dolphin Dive to Luxx. More stickers perhaps, no a thrust kick to Luxx. Now we get the sticker drop! “The Main Attraction” Devon Carter is out next!

Carter takes down everyone and hits everyone with hip checks. Carter with an X-Factor to Logan, but he kicks out at two. Luxx knees Carter into the corner, and Marco is out! Everyone attacks Marco as he enters the ring, but he throws them all off. Carter with a split leg on the apron, but Marco kicks him off the apron and to the floor. Marco throws Luxx out of the ring. Logan punches Marco in the dick, but he no sells it and throws Logan out of the ring onto Carter and Luxx. Jonesy is back, but Marco throws him out too.

CPA is out next, and Parrow looks baffled lol. CPA is out to “Man, I feel like a Woman” by Shaniah Twain. CPA takes his time to unbutton his dress shirt only to reveal a second dress shirt! Marvelous! CPA screams 1099 but misses (it was a 619, actually) and gets smacked by Marco. Nixi XS is out next, she kisses her finger and touches the chest of Parrow before heading to the ring. She grabs CPA by the tie and shoves his face into her chest while shoving her hand into Marco’s mouth. Marco goes to eliminate CPA, but Nixi catches him with a flying head scissor, and Marco is eliminated!

Juni Underwood is out next. He tricks Nixi to look down and pokes her in the nose. CPA is thrown into Nixi by Underwood, but there is no elimination. “Deathwish” Anikan Murphy is out next, and they are making their BGB debut! Murphy introduces weapons into the match. Murphy sets up eight chairs at ring side, and Nixi is eliminated by Underwood. CPA eliminates Underwood! Parrow is now making his way to the ring! Parrow takes his time entering the ring, and Murphy takes their shirt off and throws it at Parrow. Parrow catches CPA and throws him into the door in the ring. Murphy throws a chair at Parrow, but it does no damage. Parrow gives Murphy the chair back and another chair shot is no sold, but the chair plops open on the mat! Nice!

Murphy sits in the chair in the ring and flips off Parrow. Parrow takes Murphy and throws them through the chairs that Murphy set up. Parrow goes for CPA, but Cosmo is out with a mic. Cosmo tells Parrow that they got an even bigger bear than you to deal with you and out comes Bear Bronson! Bronson gets a kiss through his mask on the way out and the fans are behind him!

Bronson gets in the face of Parrow as CPA makes his way to his feet. CPA grabs Bronson from behind to no effect. CPA tries to grab Parrow, but again it has no effect. CPA is back to his feet, the 1099 connects! OFF COMES THE FINAL SHIRT! CPA trips up Parrow and stacks him up and that’s got to be an upset!
WINNER: CPA AKA CP-Gay
TIME: 27:50
THOUGHTS: I mean, what can you say, you love seeing the underdog, every-day man getting the better of the big bad bully. Typical booking 101. Fun for what it was, definitely.
RATING: ***

Post-match, Bronson returns to the ring, they tease a kiss, Parrow grabs CP-Gay by the throat, and we get a three-way kiss! BRONSON AND PARROW ARE MAKING OUT! CP-Gay is jelly! We get another three-way kiss, and CP-Gay is swooning!

A video package for ZSJ and Effy plays, that’s up next!

Big Gay Dream Match: ZSJ vs. Effy

Today, Zach is being announced as Zed Gay Jay. At least it fits in. Effy comes down to the ring and gets a look at Zach’s ass before getting into the ring.

The bell rings, and Effy wants to shake hands, but Zach offers up his ass instead. Commentary thinks this is the equivalent of dogs sniffing each other’s butts and frankly, that tracks. HE’S A BOTTOM chant for Sabre, as Effy assumes the position, and Zach smacks that ass. A feeling out and up process in the corner follows, as Zach backs off.

Lock-up, and Effy takes Sabre to the mat multiple times, surprising Sabre. Zach trips up Effy and works the ankle of Effy. Sabre to wrist control, but Effy punches Sabre in the gut to free himself. Effy licks his hands and washes his face before locking up with Sabre, who goes to a stranglehold. Effy reverses, only for Sabre to reverse. This keeps going for a bit, until Zach bridges through the legs of Effy and he shoves him to the corner.

Effy reverses an incoming Sabre, and he bumps his ass against Zach on repeat. Effy lands a running big boot and then chokes Sabre in the corner. Effy with the Daddy Long Legs and let’s go before the count of five. Sabre slaps Effy shows his Cheeky Nandos, and cranks the neck of Effy. A second time for good measure. Effy with chops, but Sabre floors Effy with one shot.

Effy reverses it by choking Sabre, but Zach calmly reverses Effy and bends his elbow down and stomps on it. Effy with shots, Zach answers with one. TITTY TWISTER BY EFFY! Sabre insists he try harder before turning the tables on Effy. Effy bites the nipple of Sabre who is laughing about it. He isn’t laughing at the bridging Northern Light Suplex though, which gets Effy a two.

Seated Senton from Effy gets him another two, but Sabre latches on with an arm submission. Sabre wrenches back further on the arm, and Effy escapes by rolling up Zach for a two. We THINK Effy is going to slap his ass, but Effy instead hits a back suplex. Sabre back to his feet, and the slap battle continues. Effy to the gut and he hits a Brain Buster into a small package for a two.

Effy slaps Sabre to the corner, but Zach slaps him right down to the mat. Sabre kicks Effy, who gets back to his feet, and he slaps Zach before going low on Sabre. The fans boo, but Effy is like, what did you expect lolz. Effy with a Dragon Sleeper on Sabre, but Sabre with the European Clutch. The bridge back gets Zach a two. WINNER: Zach Sabre Jr AKA Zed Gay Jay
TIME: 20:25
THOUGHTS: Equal parts serious and technical wrestling combined with Effy being Effy and ZSJ also playing his part. A pretty damn good match, all things considered.
RATING: ****1/4

Post-match, everyone cheers for Effy as he is laid out in the ring as Zach takes his leave.

It’s time for the main event of the evening!

Nyla Rose vs. Dark Sheik

I don’t know what’s more interesting, the fact that Nyla is wrestling, since she doesn’t in AEW anymore, or the fact that she comes out to her AEW entrance theme. Sheik has a CUNT shirt on to the graphical style of the NWO logo. Oh shit, she’s even got a CUNT flag! Amazing!

The bell rings, and we get a fist bump of respect. Rose throws Sheik to the corner, so she kips up out of defiance. Rose again throws her to the mat and Sheik gets in the face of Rose. Nyla keeps dropping Sheik, and she gets in the face of Rose and looks at her. They both leave the ring and they introduce the plunder! Rose takes a minute to take a seat and has one of the Sheik/Effy signs, and she shoves it in her face. Back in the ring, and Rose slams Sheik down face first and covers for a two. Rose stretches out Sheik across her knee, but Sheik escapes and dropkicks Rose onto the apron. Sheik with the 619 and she heads to the top rope, but she volunteers her face to the fist of Rose!

Rose steps over Sheik and goes back under the ring for another trash can. She shoves the can into the gut of Sheik and then puts Sheik inside the can. Rose with a springboard back kick, but Sheik kicks out while in the trash can. Rose with a splash, but Sheik gets the knees up and chucks the trash can at Rose. Sheik hits Rose with the other trash can and then the chair to follow. Sheik sets up Rose in the corner with the trash can in front of her. She heads to the apron, pumps her arms, COAST TO COAST DROPKICK CONNECTS! The cover, but Nyla kicks out at two.

Sheik signals this is the end, but Rose counters with a chokeslam to Sheik into the trash can! The cover, but Sheik kicks out at two. Sheik fires back with a chair to the face of Rose, and a bridging German gets her a two. Sheik places a chair on the face of Rose, and she heads to the top with another chair. ARABIAN FACE BUSTER FROM THE TOP, CHAIR TO CHAIR! The cover, but Rose kicks out at 2.5!

THOUGHTS: A good main event for 11th edition of the Big Gay Brunch. It turned into a fun brawl and Sheik really showed out.
RATING: ***1/2

Post-match, Rose goes to fist bump Sheik, but Nyla pulls her for a hug instead. Rose shows respect to Sheik, and with that, we are done!

7.8
The final score: review Good
The 411
The 11th annual edition of Effy's Big Gay Brunch was, by and large, a really fun show, with equal parts good action, equal parts shenanigans, but entire parts representation of a culture that should not be supressed. ZSJ and Effy were the highlight, but the Women's four-way match and the main event were all fun in their own right.
