More Details on Internal Reaction to Drew McIntyre Getting Busted Open At WWE Bad Blood
As previously reported, Drew McIntyre was legitimately busted open at WWE Bad Blood after CM Punk hit him in the head with a toolbox. The wound required sixteen staples to close. According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, only CM Punk was planned to bleed in the match, not McIntyre.
It was noted that WWE officials were panicking backstage and at ringside because of the seriousness of the wound and because it wouldn’t stop bleeding. At one point, there were talks of having the doctor try to stop it, but they decided not to because it was a Hell in a Cell match. The blood was wiped away from McIntyre at one point, but that was it. Eventually, McIntyre made the call that he would continue, and said that if he felt woozy, they would go right to the finish. He had no signs of a concussion and was “very aware” and “in control” at all times.
