Latest Update on If IYO SKY vs. Asuka Will Take Place at WrestleMania 42

The status of IYO SKY vs. Asuka at WrestleMania 42 has been a major talking point over the past few weeks. The former stablemates have been embroiled in a deeply personal rivalry since last September. Hence, a WrestleMania showdown seemed like a foregone conclusion for most parts of this feud.

However, with WWE using SKY as Rhea Ripley’s sidekick in the Australians’ rivalry with WWE Women’s Champion Jade Cargill during the Road to WrestleMania, fans started wondering if the bout would be booked for The Showcase of the Immortals in Las Vegas.

However, Asuka and SKY’s promos on each other earlier this week rekindled hopes again. But then SKY quietly deleted her social media promo in which she had said that she’d see The Empress of Tomorrow in Las Vegas. And it now seems that the match will not happen at ‘Mania.

In today’s edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter (WON), Dave Meltzer stated that WWE sources informed him that while the bout was planned for Vegas until last week, it will most likely not take place at WrestleMania, though a final call has yet to be taken.

Notably, earlier this week, Meltzer said on Wrestling Observer Radio (WOR) that the much-anticipated SKY-Asuka match will take place at Backlash on May 09.
