Jeff Cobb Makes NJPW Return At G1 Climax 36 Finals

Jeff Cobb is back in NJPW following his WWE release, making his return to the promotion at the G1 Climax 36 Finals on Sunday. The WWE alumnus returned at Sunday morning’s event, which took place on Tokyo from Ryogoku Sumo Hall.

Cobb made his return after Callum Newman attacked Daiki Nagai at ringside. Gedo came out to confront Newman and told him to calm down and said “this” person could fix his attitude, which led to Cobb coming down to the ring. The two faced off and Cobb ended up shoulder tackling newman down. Newman escaped the ring as Cobb struck an Unbound Company pose with Gedo.

You can see a clip from the segment below. Cobb was previously part of United Empire, which Newman is now the leader of.

Cobb exited WWE in early May. He was part of Solo Sikoa’s Bloodline and then the MFTs there as JC Mateo, having joined the company at WWE Backlash 2025 where he helped then-Bloodline member Jacob Fatu retain the WWE United States Championship. He is a former NEVER Openweight Champion, NJPW World Television Champion, and three-time IWGP Tag Team Champion. Two of his Tag Team Title reigns were with United Empire’s Great-O-Khan, and one was with Newman.
