Lars Sullivan Receives $100,000 Fine for Past Online Remarks
– It appears WWE has now taken action against WWE Superstar Lars Sullivan over his past controversial remarks he made some years back online. The remarks recently resurfaced and gained traction on social media, gaining the attention of other WWE Superstars such as Big E and Kalisto. Sullivan did later apologize for the comments, but WWE has been largely silent on the matter, until now. WWE issued a statement today announcing that Sullivan has been issued with $100,000 due to the remarks. You can read WWE’s statement on Lars Sullivan below (via Forbes).
“WWE supports a culture of inclusion regardless of gender, race, religion or sexual orientation, and we are committed to embracing all individuals as demonstrated by the diversity of our employees, performers and fans worldwide.
“Dylan Miley (aka Lars Sullivan) will be fined $100,000 and required to complete sensitivity training for offensive commentary uncovered from his past. WWE will also facilitate meetings for Dylan with community organizations to foster further discussion around the power of social media and the impact of your words.”
Last week, a WWE sponsor, Mars Wrigley, did comment on the situation in response to a fan e-mail. Mars Wrigley, wrote, “We learned of Lars Sullivan’s comments recently and share in yourshock and disgust. As a values-based company, we find his behavior abhorrent and unacceptable. We have engaged the WWE to discussthis situation and seek to understand what actions they will take toswiftly address this matter.”
