Fans waiting for Drew McIntyre to make his WWE return may have to be patient, as a new report suggests the former WWE Champion is not expected back anytime soon.
Despite recent online speculation of McIntyre’s return ahead of SummerSlam, those reports were reportedly “completely inaccurate.” According to the latest information from PWInsider, there have been no creative plans in place for McIntyre’s WWE comeback. The reason appears to be tied to opportunities outside the wrestling ring.
Drew McIntyre’s acting career has gained momentum over the past few years. After wrapping the upcoming Highlander reboot in Scotland, McIntyre has continued exploring acting projects in Hollywood. Most recently, it was announced that he has joined the cast of The Last Druid, a historical action drama starring Russell Crowe. The film is scheduled to begin shooting in Spain later this summer. Details regarding McIntyre’s role in the film have not yet been revealed.
He is represented by Paradigm and Rare Stndrd, a company founded by former Paradigm agent Nick LoPiccolo. McIntyre previously appeared in The Killer’s Game, the action-comedy led by Dave Bautista. He is also set to portray the brother of Henry Cavill’s character in the upcoming Highlander reboot.
McIntyre’s last WWE appearance came at WrestleMania 42, where he was defeated by Jacob Fatu. For now, however, it appears his attention remains focused on expanding his acting career rather than making an immediate return to WWE TV.
