A new report has an update on WWE’s plans for Jelly Roll at WrestleMania 42. It was previously reported that WWE had discussed plans for the musician to team up with Royce Keys to take on The Miz and Kit Wilson at April’s two night PPV. However, Dave Meltzter said on the latest Wrestling Observer Radio that he has been told that match won’t be happening.
Meltzer noted that while he expects Jelly Roll to have a match at WrestleMania 42, he has yet to confirm that plans are set to do so. He said that he expected they he will be working a gimmick match with Wilson and Miz, who he had an altercation with on last week’s WWE Smackdown. Jelly Roll was a guest on Miz TV and turned down an offer to be mentored by The Miz, angering him. That was followed by Wilson coming out and slamming Jelly Roll for promoting an unhealthy beauty standard due to his weight loss and Jelly Roll swung, but ended up knocking out The Miz who had been cursed by Danhausen just before the segment.
Wilson is set to appear on this week’s WWE Smackdown where he will call out Jelly for a match. Jelly Roll of course previously competed at WWE SummerSlam last year, where he teamed with Randy Orton in a losing effort against Drew McIntyre and Logan Paul.
WrestleMania 42 takes place on April 18th and 19th at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, Nevada and airs live on ESPN Unlmited in the US and Netlix internationally.
