Leighty’s WWE Main Event Review 4.30.26

-Apollo Crews was one of the recent releases and that’s a bummer as he has been a big part of Main Event in 2026 after coming back from injury. Best of luck and everyone else that was released. Shout-out to Zoey Stark as well as she put in some work on this show over the years as well.

Jordynne Grace vs. Lash Legend

-Lockup and Grace climbs the ropes to change her positioning, but Lash shoves her across the ring and flexes. Another go and Grace gets a side headlock. They end up colliding in the middle of the ring and neither budges. Legend gets a knockdown and hits a suplex before a kip up. Grace fires off headbutts from the apron, but Legends knocks her to the floor. She follows and drops Grace face first on the apron before firing her back into the ring. Grace lands a knee back in the ring and fights to get a sunset flip. Legend fights that off and ends up charging, but goes shoulder first into the post. Double knees to the back from Grace. Vader Bomb gets two! Grace has a suplex countered, but she then counters that into a roll-up. Legend with a pump kick and powerbomb for two. Goozle, but Grace avoids a chokeslam and gets a rough looking DDT. She gets the suplex this time, but Legend catches her with another boot and Lash Extension gets the win at 5:24.

Winner: Lash Legend via pin at 5:24
-This was kind of rough in spots though that made it look more like a fight. Not sure if that was by design or if they just didn’t mesh all that well tonight. Either way it wasn’t boring. **

-Backlash: Tampa commercial! I am still curious if they do something for Hogan since it is in his home and the logo has a Hulkamania feel to it.

Otis (w/ Maxxine Dupri) vs. Josh Briggs

-I saw a decent amount of Briggs in Level Up back in the day. Just give me a HOSS FIGHT where they hit each other hard until one man can walk out. Briggs misses a punch and Otis gets a side headlock. They collide and nothing doing. Briggs tries another shoulder and again, nothing. Briggs misses a clothesline and Otis knocks him down as he put some force behind that one. Loud Otis chant as the man stays over. Briggs catches him with an elbow in the corner and sends Otis shoulder first into the post. Otis tries a belly-to-back suplex, but nope. He opts for a running big boot for two. The crowd continues to chant for Otis. He is a dude that should have a job in WWE for life if he wants it. Another boot from Briggs and he pounds away in the corner with rabbit shots. Side suplex followed by a splash gets two. Briggs is frustrated so he starts kicking Otis while he is down. He works a submission and tells us that he is going to break Otis’ arm. Otis is able to break and gets a shoulder tackle. A series of knockdowns and he lands a back elbow. Splash in the corner hit this time. A second one is blocked with a boot, but Briggs runs into a slam. OtisMania is running wild as he hits The Catepillar for the pin at 5:28.

Winner: Otis via pin at 5:28
-Briggs dominated that one, but got caught in the end. This was okay, but not I wanted more HOSS FIGHT. *1/2

-Fantatics Fest is in NYC with WWE appearances. Flair is listed as one of those appearing.

Joaquin Wilde (w/ Cruz Del Toro) vs. Laredo Kid

-This is Kid’s Main Event debut! He is the reigning AAA World Cruiserweight Champion, though this is non-title. Vic goes over the history between the two men, which I appreciate. The crowd is into Laredo, which is nice to see. They each try for quick pins, but nothing happening so it’s a stalemate to start. Kid snaps off a head scissors and goes to fly, but Wilde drops south and hides by the apron. Wilde goes to work on the arm and then fixes his spiked hair. Kid lands a right hand in the corner and then a LOUD chop. He charges, but gets caught with a DDT. Wilde hooks a submission and gets hairspray to fix the hair in a nice dick move. The crowd lets him know he looks stupid, so it worked. Wilde gets caught with a boot in the corner. He misses a splash and Kid comes off the top with a missile dropkick. A series of kicks next and then a neckbreaker. This crowd really loves Laredo Kid! Twisting moonsault from the middle ropes and a second one gets a two count. Sunset flip but Wilde rolls through and gets an arm-bar. Kid escapes and gets a roll-up for two. Backdrop sends Wilde to the apron and Kid hits an enziguiri. Suicide Dive! Laredo chant from the crowd. Kid soaks it in but that costs him as he runs into a boot. Wilde heads up top, but Kid jumps up to hit a kick and finishes with a Top Rope Spanish Fly for the pin at 5:25.

Winner: Laredo Kid via pin at 5:25
-Best match of the night. Just a solid match and this crowd was way into Laredo Kid. They obviously have chemistry and did what they could with five minutes. **1/2

Just a basic episode of Main Event here. No ME MANGERS this week, but a couple solid matches and a crowd that was way into Otis and Laredo Kid. I live seeing them use AAA guys to get them some exposure. We are getting a solid mix and with the releases I assume we will continue to get some new faces. Reminder that Main Event doesn't mean someone's career is over, as Bianca Belair started on Main Event before getting the rocket push.
