-Quick plug as 411 gave their blessing to let me be a guest on The North South Connection Podcast to talk about Brock vs. Femi at WrestleMania. My guest spot ran about 18 minutes, and you can check it out here. Thanks to Ryan for asking me to be part of the show. It was a blast!
-Announce Team: Blake Howard and Vic Joseph
Apollo Crews vs. Alex Shelley (w/ Chris Sabin)
-Cool, Shelley getting a singles match! Hopefully, the MCMG get a WrestleMania match one of these years before their WWE run is over. Their TLC Match from the SmackDown after Mania last year should have been on the show. Shelley fires off chops to start and works the arm. He takes Crews down with a chinlock and transitions to a side headlock. Crews shoves off and runs Shelley over with a back elbow. Crews charges, but Shelley side steps and Crews hits the floor. Shelley slides out, but Crews jumps to the apron and comes off with a moonsault to the floor. Sling shot Senton back in gets a two count. Hard whip to the corner and Shelley is having back issues. Crews with a right hand and then a delayed vertical suplex as he makes Shelley think about it before dropping him. He actually puts him down and dead lifts him back up to complete the move. Cool! Crews charges into the corner, but gets caught with the STO into the middle buckle. Howard mentions Shelley is a former TNA and X Division Champion. Still sounds weird hearing that on WWE TV. Shelley picks up the pace and hits a running kick. Roll The Dice gets two! Shelley continues to sell the back as he punches himself to loosen things. I appreciate little things like that. Crews with an enziguiri and a Release Gorilla Press Slam. Standing Moonsault gets two! German Suplex once, twice, but Shelley elbows out of a third. They start trading strikes and Shelley gets Sliced Bread for the pin at 5:32.
Winner: Alex Shelley via pin at 5:32
-Nice little match here! Shelley does the little things that help a match. I could go for a rematch with them being giving more time. The ending seemed quick as I was hoping that Sliced Bread was setting up more, but this is Main Event so we usually don’t get more. **3/4
-Cody/Orton WrestleMania Vegas commercial!
-WWE Shop commercial!
-Hall of Fame commercial! I will have live coverage next Friday (Saturday) at Midnight Eastern! I think the show wraps well before last year’s did. I can’t see Steph or AJ going 90 minutes with their speech like HHH.
Joaquin Wilde vs. Original El Grande Americano
-Lockup and Grande gets a go behind and take down. Wilde counters into a hammerlock and then wrist control. Americano flips out and reverses as he takes Wilde down by the legs. Arm-drag from Americano, but Wilde gets a trip and they trade back and forth until it’s a stalemate. The crowd cheers! American bails to the floor off a whip, but Wilde is on him immediately with a suicide dive. Wilde up top and gets a head scissors back in the ring. Jaw breaker from Wilde! He calls out the LWO, but gets caught in the corner. Americano dumps Wilde on his face out of a Razor’s Edge for a two count. Wilde rolls to the apron and tries to sling shot in, but American catches him on the way with a Northern Lights Suplex. That was sweet! Americano rolls through into a Half Crab and Wilde counters that which American counters into an ankle-lock. Awesome! Wilde counters by sending Americano into the corner. He runs Americano into the top buckle and hits a forearm to the back of the head. Another one and then he hits a Tornado DDT. Superkick by Wilde form out of the corner. He hits a flying armbar, but Americano counters and gets an Oklahoma Roll for two. Americano throws Wilde with an overhead suplex into the corner for two. Americano up top as the crowd is getting into this one. Wilde cuts him off and brings American down with a rana. He charges for another armbar, but Americano counters and hits Chaos Theory for the pin at 5:35.
Winner: The Original El Grande Americano via pin at 5:35
-This counts as a MAIN EVENT BANGER! Americano is great and so smooth in the ring and Wilde continues to make the most of his chances on Main Event. I liked this a lot! ***
-Thanks for reading!
