Former Women’s Intercontinental Champion Lyra Valkyria has been prominently featured in the second season of WWE: Unreal. The docuseries details the Irish star’s journey from WrestleMania 41 to SummerSlam, during which she feuded with current Intercontinental Champion Becky Lynch.
In the docuseries, Lyra Valkyria expressed raw emotions while discussing her match against Becky at SummerSlam, and fans related to her sentiments. During a recent conversation with Nerdtropolis, Lyra opened up about the fan reaction to her story, admitting that it’s probably a sign that she should showcase her real self on television more often.
“I don’t know if, like, if I have a hope for people to feel because I, like, I can’t watch that back. So I’m glad that it’s like people are connecting with it, and it’s, it seems to be in a positive way that it’s helping people see the stresses that we’re under all the time and stuff. But it’s kind of hard for me to show that because that’s like Aoife, not Lyra. So I think it’s cool that people get to see that. I think, I don’t know, because it’s not always the part of me that I want to showcase. But I’m very glad that people seem to be liking it, and maybe it’s a sign that I should show more of Aoife in Lyra,” she said.
Lyra Valkyria offers advice to young fans watching her story on WWE: Unreal Season Two
“Like, who are you really if, like, when stuff goes wrong, you just kind of pack it in and let it, like, affect your next performance? I think that’s the biggest thing—that you have to be just able to… You can’t sit on the bad things, but you [also] cannot sit on the good things because it’s an industry where nothing lasts forever. It happens in the moment, and then that moment’s gone, and it’s onto the next thing. So I guess, like, take the good, take the bad, and just keep going.”
Which wrestler would she have loved seeing on WWE: Unreal if it existed back in the day?
“I guess Total Divas way back was, like, my version of Unreal. AJ Lee, probably from back when I would have loved more of an insight into her.”
