Magnus Books The Midwest 12.07.07: Week 4 of Pro Wrestling Midwest TV

December 7, 2007 | Posted by Magnus Donaldson

Hello, and welcome to Week 5 of Magnus Books The Midwest. Last week, we had show 3, and again there were some major happenings. Tyler Black returned to get the upper hand on Arik Cannon, despite a Backdrop Driver. Chuck Taylor was the latest to be torn apart by Sterling James Keenan’s monster, but Ricochet and Chuck Taylor got some much needed revenge when they finally took the monster off of his feet. Matt Sydal’s involvement has not yet been proven. Mike Quackenbush and El Generico stole the show in the main event with the best match we’ve seen yet, with El Generico advancing to face Takeshi Morishima. Larry Sweeney, despite every trick in the book, failed to contain Low-Ki, who advanced to the next round to face Eddie Kingston. As well as this, Gran Akuma and Kevin Steen advanced, defeating Claudio Castagnoli and Azrieal respectably.

Now let’s head straight to the card for this week’s event-

Canadian Violence (Kevin Steen and El Generico), Delirious and Eddie Kingston vs Low-Ki, Takeshi Morishima, Eddie Kingston and Matt Sydal
B-Boy, Arik Cannon, Chris Hero, Claudio Castagnoli and Josh Abercrombie vs Mike Quackenbush, Jigsaw, Hallowicked, Tyler Black and Marek Brave
‘Sweet and Sour’ Larry Sweeney and Azrieal vs Chuck Taylor and Ricochet
Plus Shiima Xion and Sterling James Keenan’s ‘monster’ in action

Now some pre-show news-

The Tag Team Titles Are Revealed
We mentioned recently that tag team action is to be a big part of Pro Wrestling Midwest. Well, we can today reveal that we are set to crown Tag Team Champions in just a few weeks time. In fact, the first champions will be decided in a Tag Team Elimination match four weeks from now. We can exclusively reveal the first team in this match tonight Canadian Violence (Kevin Steen and El Generico). We will reveal the remaining three teams in this match in the next few weeks.

Updated Title Tournament Semi-Final Brackets
Today we have our updated title tournament brackets. They are as follows

Kevin Steen vs Matt Sydal
Delirious vs Gran Akuma
El Generico vs Takeshi Morishima
Low-Ki vs Eddie Kingston

Four Corner Survival Action for The Final Four
We have a brand new match for The Final Four. It will see Azrieal vs Hallowicked vs Larry Sweeney vs Billy Roc. If Billy Roc or Hallowicked win then they will be given a full time roster spot, while obviously Larry Sweeney and Azrieal both don’t want to drop a match to someone not even on the roster. They have their own problems and will look to settle them in this match. Or maybe they will patch them up during this week’s tag match and get along here. We will soon see next week.

Those are the main headlines. Now let’s head to this week’s PWM event-

Shiima Xion is backstage for a promo

“A lot of people wonder where I disappeared to last week. Well, first of all, I didn’t want to appear in front of a bunch of unappreciative losers who have no right to look at my perfect looks. And secondly, I was, well, negotiating behind the scenes with someone. Let’s just say this guy was from another country. And well, this certain someone didn’t seem too interested in helping me in my quest to become the world’s hottest wrestler. It seems he had more important things to worry about. But I’m sure that what I do on Saturday will soon change this person’s mind.”

Shiima Xion vs Kid Krazy
Strangely enough, the outsider Kid Krazy was in control for a good portion of this short match, using hard kicks and high flying moves. But Shiima Xion distracted the referee and sprayed Krazy in the face with the hairspray. This gave him time to signal for the end, as he hat the From Lust To Dust, and got the three count- *

Ricochet and Chuck Taylor are backstage, and Chuck Taylor looks like he’s doing the talking.

Taylor: “You know what, I’m getting sick and tired of being beaten up by Sterling James Keenan’s ‘monster’. I’m sick and tired of losing to Sterling James Keenan simply because he has this huge guy that he can hide behind. The truth is, he’s a coward who needs this guy to do his bidding for him, because he’s too scared to face me in person. Well, this Saturday, after I take out your monster, I’ll finally get my hands on you Sterling James Keenan, and then, I plan to pin you to the mat for three.”

Ricochet: “And I plan to do exactly the same if I get the chance Sterling, I want revenge for the beatings I’ve taken”

Taylor: “Whoa whoa whoa Ricochet, it’s me that’s going to pin Sterling James Keenan, not you. I want my revenge for him costing me the Open Stipulation Title belt.”

Ricochet: “What about me, I’m your tag team partner, if you want to win then it shouldn’t matter who pins him, you’ll get your revenge either way.”

Taylor: “OK, OK, if you get the chance to pin him then pin him. But I’m not going to let you get the pinfall if I can do so first. I want to defeat him on my own merit, so you’ll only be getting the fall if I’m not there to do it myself.”

Taylor walks off with Ricochet looking angered by Taylor’s words. Is tension mounting between these two men.

Azrieal and ‘Sweet and Sour’ Larry Sweeney vs Ricochet and Chuck Taylor
Good match, a little shorter than I expected, but still good and fairly entertaining. Azrieal and Larry Sweeney were such an entertaining duo, getting a lot of boo’s from the fans and that only made them angrier since they found it hard to get an advantage on their opponents. Sweeney and Azrieal did pull off a few impressive moves during the match, but seemed to have issues with each other than held them back from getting the three count. Azrieal at one point looked like he had Ricochet pinned, but Larry Sweeney demanded the tag so he could pin him himself, and as they argued Ricochet made a tag of his own. Taylor would pin ‘The Good Guy’ with the Omega Driver- **1/4

Azrieal and Larry Sweeney argued and pushed each other after the match, then started brawling before they were separated by officials and taken to the back, both kicking and screaming to get at each other.

‘The Monster’ w/Sterling James Keenan vs Shane Storm
Storm was pretty much cannon fodder for The Monster in his debut, getting no offense in at all as he was squashed in under two minutes. The Monster used several high impact power moves, before pinning him with the Huge Chokeslam.

After the match, Shane Storm took a further beating, as he was given a second Chokeslam, then the monster went to the top and hat a SUPERFLY SPLASH, that’s impressive for a man his size. Ricochet, Chuck Taylor and Mike Quackenbush made the save (Quack clearly being concerned about his student). Shane Storm was helped to the back by the three. Does Mike Quackenbush now have an issue with Sterling James Keenan and ‘The Monster’.

Chris Hero is backstage, minus his tag team partners

“It seems that Eddie Kingston has had some issues with me lately. Well, what’s new, he’s hated me for years, and every single time we step into the ring together, I pin him or make him tap like the weakling he is. What makes it any different this time around. The truth is Eddie Kingston, you get so angry when you step in the ring with me that you can never get the job done, where as I always stay focused on the job at hand. And a week from now, I’m going to have a 2-0 record over you in this company. As for tonight, I am going to once again defeat Mike Quackenbush and Jigsaw like I’ve done so many times before. The Kings will once again reign supreme.”

Ten Man Tag Team Match- The Kings Of Wrestling (Chris Hero and ‘Double C’ Claudio Castagnoli), Josh Abercrombie, Arik Cannon and B-Boy vs The Chikarmy (Jigsaw and Mike Quackenbush), The Black and The Brave (Tyler Black and Marek Brave) and Hallowicked
Very good match, with adequate time for all ten men to get some ring time. There was a lot of hatred here, with The Kings and The Chikarmy at each others throats. The same can be aid for The Black and The Brave and Arik Cannon and B-Boy, who were hitting each other extremely hard. Cannon seemed to be trying to keep out of the way of Tyler Black, not wanting to be in there when he didn’t have to be. Hallowicked was fairly impressive in here too, he’s cementing himself as a potential future staple on the roster. However, this was not to be his night as Cannon would end up pinning him after he and B-Boy hat the Glimmering Warlock/Shining Wizard combo- ***

After the match, Eddie Kingston runs out and goes right after Hero, but is held back by his tag team partners for next week’s match, as they tell him it isn’t worth it right now. Hero runs up the ramp along with his Kings Of Wrestling team-mates, and signals for Kingston to bring it. Kingston eventually calms down, and heads to the back to prepare for the main event.

Sterling James Keenan is backstage in a dark, candlelit room with his monster standing menacingly behind him.

“One week. One week until we once again step into the ring together Ricochet. One week until we step into the ring with you Chuck Taylor. When will you two learn that me and my monster are unstoppable. You two are far two small to hurt him, and even if you were 100 pounds heavier you still couldn’t hurt this killer. Yes, you might have one upped me last week, but the truth is that you needed to use a cheap tactic to do it, and we didn’t need to do anything like that to beat you time and time again.
Not only that, it seems that you two aren’t exactly getting on like the good friends that your supposed to be. Me and my monster have no trouble. I guide him to wins, and he helps me get what I want, and so long as that keeps happening, there’s nothing that will stand in our way. There’s no way I, nor my monster, are dropping to the mat for three on Saturday. And maybe when we destroy you like the insects that you are, you two will learn to stay down.”

Main Event, Eight Man Tag Team Tournament Preview Match- Canadian Violence (‘Mr Wrestling’ Kevin Steen and ‘The Generic Luchador’ El Generico), ‘The King Of Diamonds’ Eddie Kingston and Delirious vs Low-Ki, Takeshi Morishima, Matt Sydal and Gran Akuma
Excellent main event match, a great showcase of what we can expect next week, with some interesting potential matches shown. We got a little bit of everything: hard hitting strikes, highflying, mat wrestling, you name it we saw it here. Steen and Generico seem on the same page, and used some nice double team moves, but besides that there was little cohesiveness from any of the teams, as they were more focused on getting one up on their opponents and potential opponents for the tournament on Saturday. Either way, we certainly have an exciting tournament to look forward to very soon. Takeshi Morishima would end up pulling out the win via pinfall when he pinned his opponent for this Saturday El Generico after a huge lariat followed with a Backdrop Driver. Great stuff- ***1/2

After the match, Low-Ki and Takeshi Morishima had a staredown in the middle of the ring. Maybe these two will end up in the final together. Shiima Xion is looking on from the ramp for some reason. What is his interest in this match?

Chris Hero runs down to the ring and attacks Eddie Kingston from behind. He hits the Hero’s Welcome, and locks in the Hangman’s Clutch, wrenching back on it. Mike Quackenbush and Jigsaw run down for the save, but out come Claudio Castagnoli and Josh Abercrombie. The brawl is on, and Kingston recovers enough to help out as all six brawl around the arena. We end the show with this chaotic scene showing no signs of calming down.

So that’s the show for this week. And we feel that all the questions coming out of this event will be answered next week at The Final Four.

And now I understand we have some major breaking news regarding the Title Tournament next week-

Video Proof Shows Fate Of Chuck Taylor
After tonight’s show, Commissioner Ian Rotten demanded that he be shown the security tapes from Week 2’s event. When checking the tapes, he has apparently spotted what appears to be Matt Sydal with a large amount of cash, paying off Sterling James Keenan to take Chuck Taylor out of the Open Stipulation Title Tournament.

Ian Rotten has take two courses of action. First of all, he has suspended Matt Sydal for 2 weeks for his actions. This therefore means that Kevin Steen will receive a bye into the final round. Secondly, Ian Rotten has demanded that Matt Sydal speak out about his actions, and the video will be shown next week to conclusively prove Matt Sydal is guilty as charged. What will Matt have to say?

The Final Four Final Card
The time for hype is over. Next week we will have our first major event: The Final Four. We will determine the first ever Open Stipulation Champion, and some major grudges will either heat up or be settled. The final card is as follows

Main Event, Four Way Elimination for Open Stipulation Belt- Kevin Steen vs Low-Ki/Eddie Kingston vs El Generico/Takeshi Morishima vs Gran Akuma/Delirious

Semi Final Matches
Low-Ki vs Eddie Kingston
Gran Akuma vs Delirious
Takeshi Morishima vs El Generico

The Anarchistic Punishers (Arik Cannon and B-Boy) w/Julius Smokes vs The Black and The Brave (Tyler Black and Marek Brave)

The Kings Of Wrestling (Chris Hero, Claudio Castagnoli and Josh Abercrombie) vs Mike Quackenbush, Jigsaw and Eddie Kingston

Ricochet and Chuck Taylor vs Sterling James Keenan and ‘The Monster’

Azrieal vs Billy Roc vs ‘Sweet and Sour’ Larry Sweeney vs Hallowicked

Well, that about wraps it up for this week. Next week will be a must read as we will have our big event, The Final Four, after four weeks of build up. Big matches, a new champion and some grudges to be settled. There’s no reason for you to miss out next week.
