Maple Leaf Wrestling Files A Trademark For Grand Prix Wrestling, Scott D’Amore’s Involvement Unknown
As previously reported, former TNA President Scott D’Amore filed to trademark the name Maple Leaf Wrestling, which was also a promotion run by the Tunney family in the 70s and 80s. PWInsider reports that the filing listed the same corporate address as where D’Amore’s Border City Wrestling is located.
On May 6, Maple Leaf Wrestling filed to trademark the name ‘Grand Prix Wrestling’. That was also the name for a former promotion, this one run by Emile Dupree for decades in Canada.
The trademark was for goods and services. The description reads: “Entertainment in the nature of wrestling contests; Entertainment services, namely, wrestling exhibits and performances by a professional wrestler and entertainer; Entertainment services, namely, live appearances by a professional wrestler and sports entertainer; Entertainment services, namely, personal appearances by a professional wrestler and sports entertainer; Entertainment services, namely, televised appearances by a professional wrestler and sports entertainer; Providing wrestling news and information via a global computer network; Providing online interviews featuring a professional wrestling and sports entertainment personality in the field of professional wrestling and sports entertainment for entertainment purposes.”
D’Amore has yet to address the situation and PWInsider notes they were unable to reach him for comment.
