Matt Riddle Recalls Brock Lesnar’s 2022 Royal Rumble Win, Lesnar Shooting Down Shane McMahon Spot

Brock Lesnar’s 2022 Royal Rumble win is not one of fans’ favorites, and Matt Riddle recently recalled how it went down backstage. Lesnar won the Rumble despite having lost the WWE Championship to Bobby Lashley earlier in the night, entering at #30 and tossing five guys in two and a half minutes to win. Riddle recalled the matter in his interview with TMZ Sports and said that he recalled Lesnar telling everyone backstage that he was winning.

“They went a different route [from me winning], I believe Brock won,” Riddle said (per Fightful. “I’ll be honest, I remember being in the locker room because there’s a bunch of people, Shane McMahon, a bunch of people were there. We had different ideas and plans and dude, [Brock] came in and was like, ‘I just did business for Bobby Lashley, you guys are all going to do business for me.’”

He added, “Then, Shane McMahon mentioned and asked if he could pick him up for a spot and Brock just looked at him like, no.”

Lesnar would go on and win back the WWE Championship from Lashley at Elimination Chamber and then faced Roman Reigns in a winner-takes-all match at WrestleMania 38, a match Reigns won.
