Mick Foley Says Shawn Michaels Created The Need For ‘WrestleMania Moments’
Mick Foley was mocked by Edge during their WrestleMania 22 feud for not having a true “WrestleMania moment,” and Foley blames Shawn Michaels for making it an important achievement. In the WWE Untold episode that premiered on Sunday looking at Edge and Foley’s Hardcore match from the 2006 WrestleMania, the two stars talked a bit about WrestleMania moments as it was a focus around their feud. Foley, in his usual tongue-in-cheek manner, “blamed” Shawn Michaels’ history of such moments for raising the need to have one to a new level.
“All of this is Shawn Michaels fault,” Foley said in a joking style (per Fightful). “Michaels, I think, really put a lot of emphasis on that need to have a defining WrestleMania moment. I started almost feeling like I could hear the whispers behind my back, ‘Foley never had a magic WrestleMania moment.’ So, as far as I was concerned, I did not have that exclamation point and I needed it, bad.”
For hi part, Edge said, “The WrestleMania moment, it’s trying to catch lightning in a bottle because you know that moment, if you catch it, that moment will be replayed well after you’re gone.”
Foley ended up getting his WrestleMania moment at that show when Edge speared through a burning table at the end of the match. The WWE Untold special is now available to watch on Peacock.
