Pro Wrestling NOAH star and former GHC Heavyweight Champion Naomichi Marufuji took some inspiration from last weekend’s CM Punk vs. Jey Uso match at WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event. As many will recall, a spot in the match featured CM Punk performing a neckbreaker on Jey Uso, but it appeared Uso botched how he was supposed to take the move.

The 46-year-old wrestler initially wrote on the Jey Uso botch in his match with Punk, “Looks like he messed up the way he received it, but personally, I feel like I can sublimate it into a new technique…” Marufuji decided to take the spot as inspiration for his latest matchup, adapting the move into a DDT variation.

Naomichi Marufuji also suggested that CM Punk could use the version he adapted from the spot in their match at some point. He later wrote after adapting the move in his latest match, “Everything has a meaning. I was inspired by that move and created this technique. I’d love to see CM Punk use it, too.”

At last weekend’s WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event, CM Punk defeated Jey Uso in the headlining match to win the vacant World Heavyweight Title. Seth Rollins was forced to relinquish the title due to the injury he suffered in his match against Cody Rhodes at WWE Crown Jewel Perth.
