NJPW Sakura Genesis 2026 Results. 4.04.26: Callum Newman Wins Title, Will Ospreay Victorious in Return

As previously reported, NJPW had a momentous Sakura Genesis 2026 event at Tokyo’s Ryogoku Sumo Hall earlier today. In the main event, Callum Newman beat Yota Tsuji to win the IWGP Heavyweight Title, becoming the youngest champion in company history.
Elsewhere, AEW star Will Ospreay made his return to New Japan for the first time since 2024, teaming with his old United Empire Faction in a winning effort against the team of El Desperado, Taichi & Yuya Uemura.
Also, AEW star Konosuke Takeshita wrestled Shota Umino to a 15-minute draw. As a result, Takeshita retained his NJPW World TV Title. Below are some quick results from the event, from New Japan’s website:

* Toru Yano, YOH, Tiger Mask & Aaron Wolf beat HOUSE OF TORTURE (Yoshinobu Kanemaru, SHO, DOUKI & Don Fale)
* The United Empire (The Great-O-Khan, HENARE & Will Ospreay) beat El Desperado, Taichi & Yuya Uemura
* NEVER Openweight 6-Man Tag Team Championship Match: YOSHI-HASHI, Hirooki Goto & Oleg Boltin (c) beat The House of Torture(Chase Owens, Yujiro Takahashi & Ren Narita) to retain the belts.
* NJPW World Television Championship Match: Konosuke Takeshita (c) vs. Shota Umino (15-minute Time Limit Draw). As a result, Takeshita retains the title.
* IWGP Tag Team Championship: Knock Out Brothers (OSKAR & Yuto-Ice) (c) beat T.M.D.K. (Ryohei Oiwa & Zack Sabre Jr.)
* IWGP Heavyweight Championship: Callum Newman beat Yota Tsuji (c) to win the title.
