Oba Femi on Dealing With Pressure of Expectations & Comparisons With Brock Lesnar

Oba Femi has made a huge impact since transitioning from NXT to the WWE main roster earlier this year. The Ruler departed NXT after retaining the NXT Championship at New Year’s Evil and subsequently showed up at the Royal Rumble to compete in the 30-man Battle Royal.
Femi was the number-one entrant in the match, and he didn’t waste any time in making an impact, as he eliminated Bron Breakker within seconds and then went on to secure four more eliminations. He also had a much-anticipated face-off with Brock Lesnar, who ultimately eliminated him.
Since then, Oba Femi has been squashing wrestlers on both RAW and SmackDown. He is set to face Rusev on tonight’s RAW. The Nigerian Giant recently spoke to TVInsider, where he opened up about dealing with the pressure of expectations from both the company and the fans and his comparisons with Brock Lesnar.
Below are the highlights:
Oba Femi on dealing with the pressure that comes with massive expectations
“It’s nothing I haven’t done before. I did that my whole NXT run. I’m doing that now. I’m good at dealing with pressure. That’s why I’m here. At least that’s why I think that’s why I’m here. Nothing changes. The same thing that brought me to the dance is the same thing I’m doing here.”
The Ruler on his comparisons with The Beast Incarnate
“What a run for him. He had two separate runs, and they’ve both been fantastic. It would be really cool to face him. I know the fans have been asking for that match. It’s going to happen one day soon. What a run he has had: UFC champion, multiple-time WWE champion, Royal Rumble winner, dominance. What a way to cap it off by facing “The Ruler.”
With Brock Lesnar having issued an Open Challenge for WrestleMania 42, it will be interesting to see if The Ruler steps up to The Beast.
