Oba Femi is proud of what he, Trick Williams, and Je’Von Evans did in WWE NXT, and thinks their era will be romanticized the way the Black & Gold era is. The trio of stars all moved from NXt to the main roster in January and have found success, all earning spots on the WrestleMania 42 card. Evans will compete in the WWE Intercontinental Championship Six-Pack Challenge, Williams is challenging Sami Zayn for the United States Championship, and Femi of course will battle Brock Lesnar.

The three feuded with each other during their time in NXT, including a triple threat match at Stand & Deliver 2025 for the NXT Championship. Femi told Yahoo’s Uncrowned that he believes they pushed each other to be better and that he is proud of what they did for the brand. He also spoke about vacating the NXT Championship before coming to WWE. You can see highlights below:

On Relinquishing the NXT Championship:

“[It] was time. You know when you’ve done everything you can do for a company, you know when you’ve done everything you can do for a brand, a relationship, a friendship. You know when you’ve done everything and you’ve tried your best and you’ve put your all, and it’s time for you to move on to the next thing. And that’s just where I found myself when I had the NXT Championship. I’d done everything there was to do. I’m grateful for my time in NXT, of course. That was my indies. I appreciate everything I went through there.”

On His Peers in Trick Williams & Je’Von Evans:

“You have Oba Femi, Trick Williams and Je’Von Evans. You can’t tell me the [WWE Performance Center] doesn’t make stars. How often do you get such people getting called up to the main roster and they’re already on that level? The PC did that, the NXT did that. We did that… It puts joy in my heart knowing that we did what we did for the brand of NXT. We became the top trio in the next year. And we all got called up around the same time. And it’s good to watch the people around you grow as well. They pushed me to become a better version of myself. You know the way the [NXT] black and gold is romanticized by fans? I do strongly believe that the Trick Williams, Je’Von Evans and Oba Femi era will also be romanticized.”
