WWE News: Reason Daniel Bryan Turned Heel, Brie Bella is Proud of Daniel Bryan, Free NJPW Match

– On the latest Wrestling Observer Radio (via Sportskeeeda), Dave Meltzer stated that Daniel Bryan himself had been pitching to turn heel for at least a month now. Vince McMahon made the call over the weekend to do the title change, and the heel turn was to come after. McMahon then decided to expedite things and do it all in one night for maximum impact.
