Roman Reigns Calls Out CM Punk Promos: “There’s A Contradiction To Everything”

Roman Reigns commented on CM Punk’s promos during an appearance on First Take, ahead of their scheduled main event at WrestleMania 42 Night 2. The promos form an integral part of the ongoing build between Reigns and Punk, which has included television segments and media appearances.

Reigns said that fan behavior has changed due to internet access. He noted that fans now revisit segments, analyze clips, and compare statements across platforms. He stated that maintaining continuity between on-screen statements and ongoing storylines is important in the current era (via Fightful).

“I think if you look at every talking point CM Punk has hit, there’s a contradiction to everything. I’m not making it up. The internet exists. It’s not 2012 anymore. The old CM Punk, that pipebomb cr*p, it doesn’t line up because you have nerds all over the world picking it apart. They’re just on their computers like ‘No way’ and they’re cutting and copying, click, paste. You can’t lie in this day and age, you have to have continuity.” Reigns said.

Roman Reigns also compared himself with what Punk has been doing:

“What you see is what you get with me. I’m the only real superstar that WWE has. I’m the only guy around here that, they pay me like I throw a football. I’m the only guy that can say that. You have these people that come up here and run these slander campaigns because they have an open mic and an open platform. At the end of the day, you can run your mouth all you want, but you gotta back it up. You gotta walk the walk.”

WrestleMania 42 is scheduled as a two-night event, with Reigns and Punk set to headline Night 2.
