Ronda Rousey Says ‘Wrestling is Scripted’, Attacks WWE Universe, Says She Will Do Whatever She Wants
– Ronda Rousey has the internet talking again after she acknowledged the scripted nature of wrestling in a new YouTube video. During her latest “Ronda on the Road” video, Rousey did so-called “shoot comments” in which she talked about her supposed frustration with WWE’s creative.
“I’m tired of being here to just entertain people,” Rousey said (per Fightful). “I’m not taking anymore direction or notes or orders. Every time I go out there, I’m gonna do whatever the hell I want. They’re gonna have to keep filming and cashing the checks I’m bringing in. What are they gonna do? Not accept the money I’m making them? Rebecca Quin talked shit about my husband and I told her I’d beat the fuck out of her next time I saw her. Guess what. I beat the fuck out of her.”
She continued, “It wasn’t a promo they gave me other things to say. I didn’t fucking say it. It’s not a fucking promo. It’s not an act. I’m not going out there and doing their fucking act anymore. They can say it’s part of an act to save face, but it’s not. I’m going out there and doing whatever the hell I want and they can explain it however the hell they want, but…fuck em. Everybody. WWE Universe included. I meant that I’m going to disrespect the sport that they all love so much. ‘Ohhhh don’t break kayfabe, Ronda!’ Wrestling is scripted. It’s made up. It’s not real. None of those bitches can fucking touch me. The end.”
It’s worth noting that Rousey appears to be playing off reports that she is frustrated with WWE booking. It’s also worth noting that the above comments are more explicit about the scripted aspect, but are not all that different than Triple H saying on Raw this week that his feud with Batista isn’t about characters and is about the people behind them. The key difference between the two is that WWE is booking Rousey as a heel leading into WrestleMania 35. That’s not to say it’s impossible that the video is a legit shoot, just some context to consider.
