Sam Alvey Says He’d Want to Get Into Wrestling & WWE If He Doesn’t Continue in UFC
– Sportskeeda MMA spoke to UFC fighter Sam Alvey ahead of UFC on ESPN 40, where he’s facing Michał Oleksiejczuk this weekend. During the interview, Alvey expressed his interest in wanting to join WWE if he doesn’t continue fighting in UFC after this fight. Below are some highlights (via Fightful and Sportskeeda):
Sam Alvey on his interest in WWE if his UFC career ends after this fight: “You know, if the UFC and I decided not to continue our relationship together, I want so desperately to be in the WWE. That is what got me into fighting, to begin with. I love that sport. I love every part of it. That would be a dream. But I like fighting so much, I don’t want to stop. I’m sure I will land on my feet in, I don’t know, Bare Knuckle boxing, maybe, I’ll go back to Bellator, or, I love tournaments the PFL tournament might be perfect for me.”
On possibly getting into wrestling: “I absolutely would [get into wrestling]. I mean in a heartbeat. Now I love the UFC and I hope to spend the rest of my career fighting because there’s few things I like more. But if I had the opportunity to perform on the wrestling stage, I would do it in a heartbeat.”
Alvey on a potential move to WWE: “I have not spoken to anybody yet [in the WWE]. Honestly, my full and entire attention is to stay in the UFC, I want to win something dominant and impressive… I love The Rock but Chris Jericho is way high on my list too. I’ve been watching the Monday Night Wars, I’m just rewatching some of Jericho’s matches, I love Chris Jericho.”
His thoughts on AEW: “I would like that [joining AEW]. The WWE, after The Attitude Era, they started locking down on people’s mic time and it seems so much more scripted now than it used to and I would love the free reign to get that mic and just try to make fans that way.”
