Spike Dudley Explains Why He Retired From Wrestling

On the latest episode of 1 Of A Kind, Spike Dudley talked about his decision to step away from the professional wrestling business. You can check out some highlights below:

On his decision: “My family is what got me out of it. You know, when my wife and I got serious about having kids, it was like, ‘I can’t do stuff on the road, I can’t be in the business. I can’t be slicing my head, taking bumps and doing all that stuff anymore.’ So that was the motivating factor, was, ‘I had a good chapter, let’s move on.’”

On being sick of the business: “It was one of those things where she was talking and, ‘Hey, how much longer do I do it?’ And she said, ‘Look, if you’re going to quit, you got to quit not for me, not for the kids. You’ve got to quit for yourself and make that decision.’

“And I’ll be honest, I was sick of the business anyways. Like, I really was. I was tired of it. I was really wasn’t making much money. I was doing stupid s**t on indie shows for stupid reasons. It was just like, I had my fun. Let’s move on to the next chapter.”
