The Young Bucks recently named The Usos as one of the top tag teams outside All Elite Wrestling as a direct answer to a fan question on Being The Elite mailbag. The comments are a rare instance of recognition between major tag teams in rival promotions.

The Usos have been a key part of WWE’s tag team division for several years, including their involvement in The Bloodline storyline. Their run has included multiple championship reigns and WrestleMania moments. The twins are also the current World Tag Team Champions. The Young Bucks, meanwhile, have been key figures in AEW’s tag team division since the company’s foundation in 2019. Their matches and style have influenced the presentation of tag team wrestling in recent years.

While answering the question of the best tag team outside AEW on BTE, Matt Jackson put Jimmy and Jey Uso forward as his immediate choice (via Fightful).

“We’ve got most of them, right? I mean, I guess you have to say the Usos.”

Nick Jackson responded more cautiously, explaining that his focus on AEW’s weekly schedule limits how closely he follows other promotions. However, he did not dispute the choice.

“For me, it’d be unfair to answer that because I don’t really watch anything outside of AEW. AEW has so much content on a weekly basis, it’s hard to see anything outside of it.”

Matt also referenced an early encounter with the duo during a 2011 SmackDown tryout, where both teams shared the ring in a pre-show setting. According to him, that experience stood out for the Usos’ in-ring communication and their ability to adapt quickly during matches.

“I will say this, years and years and years ago, this was probably in 2011, I believe, we got to go backstage at, I think it was a.. I think it was SmackDown when we actually did this. It was SmackDown, it was prior to the show, so all the boys were out there watching, and we got to do a, sort of like a tryout match in front of the boys, and we got to wrestle the Usos, and even way back then, those guys were awesome. They’re really good. Next level, they were calling great stuff on the fly, and I remember afterward thinking like, ‘whoa, those guys are good, I would really like to have a proper match with them one day.’ Now, fast forward all these years later, it’s probably not possible. But hey, you know, I recognize that they’ve done some great stuff.”

While there are no indications of a match between the two teams, the acknowledgment highlights recognition across promotions.
