During a recent interview with TMZ’s Inside the Ring, AEW Women’s World Champion Thekla was asked about the issue of dating in her profession, and if wrestlers dating other wrestlers is a good idea, or if it can be detrimental to their careers. She also denied the host’s preface to his question that she was dating Clark Connors, saying that they are ‘very close,” but not dating. Below are some highlights:
Thekla on Whether Wrestlers Dating Other Wrestlers Can Be Detrimental to Their Careers
“I’m not sure if it’s a good idea, per se. Everything is everybody’s a good-looking and horny from what I can tell, really. So, but I think it’s a good idea in a way that. It’s obviously hard to probably date somebody who isn’t immersed in your world, as we live very strange lives as professional wrestlers. So, I wouldn’t want to, you know, it’s hard to explain all that, all the travel and all the horniness.”
On Not Liking Seeing Wrestlers Post Cute Wedding Photos
“I mean, but what I can tell you, really what I think is a lot of very badass people, like as badass portrayed portrayed people on TV are becoming extremely lame when they post photos of themselves getting married in some in some cute little church in the middle of — on the beach of i– n Italy or something. I think I find that whack as hell.”
On How She Wouldn’t Post Wedding Photos Online
“I don’t know. I don’t care what you do in your private life, but I wouldn’t as a professional, I wouldn’t post that **** So, that’s what I think.”
Thekla will be in action this weekend at AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door 2026, where she defends the AEW Women’s World Title against Starlight Kid. The event takes place on Sunday, June 28. Forbidden Door is being held at the SAP Center in San Jose, California. It will be broadcast live on pay-per-view.
