Christopher Daniels vs. Petey Williams

Lock up and a go behind by Petey. Reversals, and a take down by Daniels. More counters and they stand off. Lock up and a headlock by Petey. More reversals and Daniels with an arm bar. Escape by Petey and off the ropes and a hip toss by Daniels, Petey to the floor to regroup. Back in now and they lock up again, elbows by Petey and off the ropes, leap frog and a slap to Daniels. Petey runs as Daniels was pissed. Petey back to the apron, slings in and then Daniels slaps the piss out of him. Arm drags by Daniels and he lock sin an arm bar. Petey to his feet, backs him to a corner and knees by Petey. Irish whip and a float over and arm drag by Daniels. Petey to his feet, off the ropes and a leg lariat by Daniels gets 2. Slam by Daniels, split legged moonsault gets 2. Petey to the floor, Daniels charges and misses a baseball slide and Petey gets a leg drop on the apron to change the momentum. Back into the ring now and Petey covers for 2. He chokes Daniels now, argues with the ref and then places Daniels in the tree of woe…OHHHHH CAAANADA NUT STOMP! Another tree of woe now, he does the Oh Canada again. Snap mare and a dropkick to the back by Petey gets 2. Rear chinlock by Petey slows things down. Daniels fights to his feet, elbows out and off the ropes and a sunset flip gets 2 for Daniels. Spinning heel kick by Petey gets 2. Neckbreaker by Petey gets 2. Daniels with rights to Petey, off the ropes and a back elbow to Petey. Boots and an Enziguri! Both men struggle to their feet, forearms by Daniels. Off the ropes and a backdrop to Petey. STO 1…2…NO! Off the ropes and a BLUE THUNDA DRIVA by Daniels! 1…2…NO! Daniels slams Petey to the corner, but Petey with forearms. Daniels manages to set him up top, tree of woe! He gets the mic…he does the whole Pledge of Allegiance! Tremendous! Angles Wings try, counter and Petey gets the Tilt a whirl Russian leg sweep! He calls for the CD, countered and Daniels gets ANGELS WINGS! 1…2…3!

First of all, props to Daniels for wearing the bandage on his head, as right before this show, Impact had LAX beating Daniels down and bloodying him; continuity kids. This was just a really well put together match and a strong opener for the show. Great work by both men. ***

Abyss vs. Jay Lethal

Jay avoids the lock up, trying to stay away from Abyss. Rights to Abyss, off the ropes and a cross body does nothing. Dropkicks do nothing, off the ropes and another rocks Abyss a little. GOOZLE…Jay bites Abyss and goes up top…cross body takes him down. Basement dropkick and another…cover for 1. Off the ropes and a flapjack by Abyss. Abyss taunts the crowd, awesome. Clubbing shots to Jay and he is down. Irish whip and Jay hits hard and falls. Another Irish whip and Jay takes the chest first Bret Hart bump. Abyss grabs Jay, sets him in the corner…corner splash connects. A cover gets 2 for Abyss. Neck vice now by Abyss, Jay fights to escape…to his feet and elbows out. Off the ropes and a big boot by Abyss and a cover for 2. Back to the neck vice now. Jay escapes again, rights to Abyss but Jay is tossed down. Enziguri by Jay rocks Abyss. Head scissors finally takes Abyss down. Springboard DDT by Jay gets 2. Jay up top…Abyss crotches him and gets a chair. The ref tries to take it…VAN DAMNINATOR gets 2 for Jay. Rights by Jay, off the ropes…boot to Abyss. Off the ropes again…DOUBLE ROTATION BLACK HOLE SLAM finishes it for Abyss.

Fine little match here, Lethal was a bump machine. **

Hermie Sadler comes to the ring. He thanks the sponsors of the event. He has been friends with the Hebners for a long time, but Earl is known for screwing Bret and for screwing Christian Cage. Jim Cornette came into TNA and fired Earl. He is in a tough spot, but they are friends and Earl wants a chance to explain himself here tonight.

Earl comes to the ring with AMW and Gail.

Hermie says he gave him a chance to address the fans, so don’t screw it up. Earl says he brought his friends here to protect him. Hermie says he has 2-minutes. Earl says he only did what he is told. He has a contract with UWF for 2-years, and he will do his job. He wants to work this out with Hermie. Hermie asks if he should forgive him. Hermie says he is suspending Earl without pay indefinitely. The crowd hates this.

The James Gang come to the ring and Kip has the “Ass Cam.” BG does his normal shtick. Kip says “New York” took his line. But he’ll show them how to do it anyway, and we get the, “Kip James would like to share 2-words with you, but there is no “E” in TNA” message. Hilarious.

Winners Get a Tag Title Match in Jacksonville: Handicap Match: AMW and Gail Kim vs. The James Gang

Kim and Harris to start. Harris to the floor to stall. BG gets on the mic and they mock AMW. Larry Z must be teaching stalling classes. They begin and Kip tosses Harris down and he cries to Storm. Knee by Harris and clubbing shots to Kip. Lefts to Kip now, Irish whip and a knee by Kip. Arm drags and a hip toss by Kip and Harris runs to Storm and hugs him. Storm massages Harris and slaps his ass. Maybe the Bob Ryder jokes are true. Storm tags in now. So does BG. More stalling…zzzz. Storm fakes a lock up and mocks BG. Knees by Storm and clubbing shots to BG. AMW tries a double team but Storm hits Harris. Off the ropes and Storm clotheslines Harris as BG ducks a shot and AMW to the floor. Storm finally back in and attacks Kip. He lays the boots to him and Harris tags in. Elbows by Kip and he slams him to the corner. Again and then the corner splash. Kim in and Kip tosses her down. They slam all three of them to the corner, Storm falls, Kim to his crotch and Harris falls into the doggy style position. Cute. She’s pissed. Harris back in and Kip slams him to a corner. Off the ropes, and they beat down Kip and Harris with a lariat. All three lay the boots to him, Kim rakes the eyes and tags Storm. Storm yells at BG and Harris pulls Kip to the floor and slams him to the security railing. Back in and Storm covers for 2. Tag to Harris, double leg-pull to Kip. Lefts by Storm as Earl keeps BG in his corner. Off the ropes and a neckbreaker by Kip. Both men are down, Kip manages a cover and a slow as dirt count from Earl for 2. DDT by Harris gets 2. AMW and Kim triple team Kip. Kip manages to double DDT AMW. Kim up top…RANA on Kip. Amber O’Neil is here and we have a catfight. She clears Kim from the match as they brawl to the back. Tag to BG. House of mild here. Boot to Storm and a cover for a slooooooooow 2. BG is pissed, off the ropes and a pump handle try on Storm…Harris in to stop it. He tosses Kip now and Hermie Sadler is in the ring and Storm superkicks Hermie. Harris covers, but Brian Hebner is here to pull Earl out of the ring. He steals the beer bottle and Kip levels Storm. BG rolls up Harris and Brian counts the three.

The normal James Gang stall-fest/over booked pile of shit, what a waste. About the worst AMW match I have ever seen; and I have seen about EVERY AMW match. Zzzzzzz. BALLS

Earl Hebner is here again to ref this match. Nope, he is leaving. Good. Damn, David Young is talking him into staying.

Eric Young has the mic. He is nervous. Before he does the match, he needs to know if I have any friends here. They all cheer. This is the EY movement. They all chant don’t fire Eric!

Eric FN Young vs. Elix Skipper w/David Young

Lock up and to the corner they go and rights by Elix. Lock up again and to the corner again. Rights by Elix. Repeated forearms, Irish whip and Young floats over and goes to the floor. He leads the crow din cheers and then back in. Boots by Elix, forearms now. Irish whip, float over again, counters and a dropkick by Young. Elix to the floor and is not happy. Back in and knees by Elix. David Young grabs Eric, Elix misses and Young rams them together. Rights by Young on Elix, Earl stops him allowing Elix to clothesline Young down. To the apron and forearms to the back by Elix. Standing leg drop by Elix. Back into the ring and Elix with a top wrist lock now. Young with rights to escape, but a sidekick by Elix takes Young down. Snap mare by Elix and kicks to Young. He covers and gets 2. Forearm shots by Elix, Irish whip and Elix misses a clothesline, but gets a back suplex on Young for 2. A neck vice by Elix now. Young battles to his feet, pummels Elix and then gets a springboard cross body for 2. Off the ropes and a spinning kick by Elix takes him down and he gets a cover for 2. E. Young tossed to the floor and D. Young beats on him. Young rolled back in and Elix covers for 2. Forearms by Elix, Irish whip and D. Young gets a spin kick to E. Young allowing Elix to cover for 2. Elix has a chair, Young kicks him and grabs it. Earl takes it away and Elix with a judo toss slam on Young and covers for 2. Elix chokes Young now. Irish whip and Flair flip by Young…up top…Elbow Drop! Both men are down. Up and elbows by Young. Boot, flapjack on Elix gets 2 as Earl “pulled a muscle.” D. Young in and beats down EY. Petey is here now to even the odds, they hug…CANADIAN DESTROYER ON EY! Damn you! Elix back in, covers 1…2…3.

Hermie Sadler and the staff check on EY as the crowd chants for him. He has a mic. Hey, I almost had him. Petey, the former Team Canada captain. I want to see if I am free tomorrow, and I am, I want Petey in a match. Hermie makes it so.

The Diamonds and Earl Hebner sucked away all of EY’s charisma. Just blah. At least it set a match for the next night. *

Rhino vs. Alex Shelley

Lock up and a wristlock by Alex. Arm bar now, slaps Rhino and Rhino reverses it and Alex gets the ropes. Lock up again, arm lock by Alex again. Wrist lock again, reversal by Rhino and Alex to the ropes. Rhino kicks him in the junk as the ref wasn’t looking and I don’t think Alex appreciated that. Rhino gets a mic and says he is done playing, it is ass-kicking time. Alex draws the imaginary line and slaps Rhino. Rhino starts the ass whooping, goes for a gore but Alex goes to the floor. Rhino follows and slams him to the railing. Back in and Alex begs off, eye poke by Rhino. Irish whip and a reversal by Alex, Rhino hits hard. Eye rakes by Alex. Rights now and then he chokes him over the middle rope. Snap mare and boot to the head by Alex. Chops by Rhino now, thumb to the throat by Alex. Rights to Rhino takes him down. Slaps by Alex and a cover for 2. Another for 2. Rhino up and fires back, but Alex with a neckbreaker for 2. Knees to the back by Alex and a rear chin lock now. Rhino fights but Alex pulls him down, elbow drop and a cover for 2 by Alex. Basement dropkick by Alex and back to the chin lock. Rhino escapes, off the ropes and a clothesline to Alex. Corner gore by Rhino. Cover for 2. Enziguri by Alex and a cover for 2. Rights by Rhino now, off the ropes…sidekick by Alex. Superkick to Rhino 1…2…no. Off the ropes, but Rhino gets a TKO! Sets for the Gore…gets it. 1…2…3.

Samoa Joe vs. AJ Styles

Lock up and a go behind by Joe. Arm bar by Joe, AJ rolls and kips up and gets one of his own. Drop toehold by Joe and he lets AJ up. Test of strength, Joe dominates. AJ fights to his feet, and a drop toehold on Joe and they stand off. Lock up and a knee by Joe. Snap mare, chops and kicks and then the running knee drop by Joe. Rights by Joe, off the ropes and AJ gets the dropkick sequence on Joe. Slam by AJ. Knee drop by AJ and a cover for 2. AJ rams Joe to the corner, Irish whip and AJ with a corner clothesline. Snap mare and kick by AJ, cover for 2. Slams Joe to the corner again, shoulder rams by AJ…Irish whip and AJ charges…STJOE~! Joe picks up AJ, chops now, and jabs as well and AJ is down. Rights by Joe, snap mare and a rear chin lock by Joe. AJ battles to his feet, escapes and off the ropes…and eats a jab by Joe. AJ gets a RANA to Joe and he goes to the floor. AJ charges…SUICIDE SENTON to Joe! AJ grabs Joe and rolls him back into the ring, springboard Superman forearm to Joe gets 2! Back suplex by AJ gets 2. Forearms by AJ, crucifix into a sunset flip, clash try and Joe escapes. AJ off the ropes, snap powerslam by Joe gets 2. Off the ropes, running knee of doom by Joe! AJ set up top…AJ fights, Asai DDT 1…2…NO! Rights by AJ, Joe fires back. Joe goes wild now…PELE BY AJ! AJ off the ropes…rolling pin by AJ, but Joe gets the choke! AJ fights, but Joe turns it into a camel clutch choke and AJ taps.

A good match, but far below the level you would expect from these guys. ***¼

The 411: First of all, this is a small building I will say. Low ceiling, and so brightly lit it almost annoys me a bit. It looked nice in theory I will say. I loved that they had the tag match to set up the title match for the next night, which is a nice deal to connect the shows. The Earl Hebner stuff was annoying, and the crowd hated it, as did I. The AMW vs. James Gang match blew and EY and his charisma was no match for the DITR’s negative charisma. The opener was hot and Abyss vs. Lethal was a solid match. Rhino vs. Shelley was solid, just nothing you’ll remember after you watch the DVD. AJ and Joe was a solid main event, but if you have seen these guys a lot you would probably come away a little disappointed. Even though they had the names I wanted to see last time in NC, the show was the worst of the bunch o have reviewed thus far. I don’t feel bad for missing this one now.
