Update On Las Vegas Businesses Being Restricted From Showing WrestleMania 42

It was reported earlier this week that Las Vegas businesses are being restricted from showing WrestleMania 42, and according a new report, that doesn’t seem likely to change. As noted earlier this week, the distributor of the WrestleMania broadcasts has told several establishments in Las Vegas that they will not be able to show the broadcast even if they do pay the licensing fee. The matter was attributed to a new policy put in place for businesses within 50 miles of the event in order to increase ticket sales.
Fightful Select reports that several locations were told this week that WWE isn’t changing its mind on the policy, which will blackout watch parties for the PLE in Las Vegas. It’s common for venues that pay licensing fees to show the PLE for patrons which often includes watch parties over WrestleMania weekend with talent hosting the events.
The report notes that according to sources, several establishments are deeply frustrated by the matter due to the fact that there was already planning put into place for watch parties. The previous report noted that several wrestling talents had already agreed to deals to host WrestleMania watch parties and one source had indicated they felt like the new policy undermines the idea of WrestleMania coming back to Vegas in order to boost tourism for the city.
It has been reported that WrestleMania tickets are selling slower this year and that WWE is looking into promotions and strategies to boost ticket sales.
