Former AEW World Champion Maxwell Jacob Friedman (MJF) has been away from weekly programming since All Out: Toronto, where he lost the Tables ‘N’ Tacks Match to Mark Briscoe.
MJF has been away due to his filming commitments, but according to Dave Meltzer, he has wrapped them up, and his return could take place as soon as this coming Wednesday.
AEW will present a three-hour special Holiday Bash episode of Dynamite and Collision from Manchester, England, on December 17. This past Wednesday, the promotion announced that the annual Dynamite Diamond Battle Royal will return next week.
As is the tradition, the final two competitors will go one-on-one to earn a shot at the AEW World Championship. That match is scheduled for Dynamite on 34th Street, which will be taped inside the confines of the iconic Hammerstein Ballroom on December 20 and will air on Christmas Eve. The winner of that match will contest for the World Title at AEW Maximum Carnage on January 14, 2026.
With the Dynamite Diamond Battle Royal traditionally dominated by MJF, Meltzer believes that the Long Island native could make his return to AEW television and participate in that match on December 17. It will be interesting to see if that happens.
