Update on Status of Brock Lesnar & His In-Ring Future Following WWE SummerSlam, More Backstage Notes

– Fightful Select has more backstage notes from WWE SummerSlam 2026: Sunday, including an update on Brock Lesnar. During last night’s Night 1, Brock Lesnar lost to Oba Femi in a Hell in a Cell Match in the main event.

After the match, Lesnar removed his gloves and embraced Oba Femi. He then got on the microphone and acknowledged Femi as the future of WWE, seemingly passing the torch to his on-air rival. According to Fightful’s update, even after Lesnar’s actions and gesture last night, WWE sources don’t think Lesnar has had his last match.

Speaking on Brock Lesnar’s actions after the match at WWE SummerSlam, Triple H said on Lesnar during the post-show press conference, “You know as well as I do, Brock does what Brock wants. So I would take what he said at face value, and let’s see.”

– For tonight’s show, Fightful reports that there’s at least one special entrance planned for the show outside of the main event. During last night’s show, Cody Rhodes had a Street Fighter-style entrance for his WWE Undisputed Title bout against CM Punk.

– The Broken Lizard troupe of the Super Troopers franchise were in town and hanging out with the WWE Superstars this weekend. They also appeared during a segment for the Countdown to WWE SummerSlam pre-show.
