Backstage Update on Stephanie Vaquer Following Injury Angle on WWE RAW

Stephanie Vaquer is not expected to lose her championship despite concerns following her appearance on the January 5, 2026, episode of WWE Monday Night RAW. While the segment raised questions about her health, backstage updates suggest the situation is being carefully managed rather than signaling a major setback. The angle appears designed to balance a real issue with planned storytelling.
Vaquer appeared on RAW wearing a walking boot while addressing the audience. The segment quickly escalated when Raquel Rodriguez attacked her in the ring. The confrontation continued later backstage, reinforcing the sense that Vaquer was being written off television, at least temporarily. Internally, the sequence is viewed as a controlled way to remove her from weekly programming without undermining her title reign.
According to PWInsider Elite (h/t NoDQ), Vaquer is dealing with a legit injury. However, the injury is not severe enough to warrant an extended break. More importantly, there is no expectation that Vaquer will need to vacate the Women’s World Championship and crown a new champion.
Once Vaquer is medically cleared, the expectation is that the storyline will transition into a championship program between the two. That approach keeps momentum intact without rushing her return. WWE has leaned on similar strategies in the past, using short-term write-offs to maintain continuity as they build into Elimination Chamber and Royal Rumble.
Vaquer is a former NXT Women’s North American Championship holder and has had memorable feuds with the likes of Nikki Bella and Iyo Sky as she vies to become one of the more accomplished women in WWE history.
