UPDATED: A new report has some additional details on WrestleMania 43 heading to Saudi Arabia. Fightful Select reports that the announcement was initially made not only by press release but in a SnapChat video from Turki Alalshikh, an adviser to the Saudi royal family. The site reports that Alalshikh said
“WrestleMania has been announced, for the first time outside of America, WrestleMania in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia 2027.”
WWE has yet to officially respond to requests for comments. One higher-up in the company suggested it was true without outright confirming, saying, “Where there’s smoke, there’s fire” and suggesting that Triple H’s comments on The Pat McAfee Show about inspiring change in the company may have been a preface for an announcement.
Regarding the press release, it was not received by a number of outlets but Fightful Select notes it was in Arabic and didn’t go out to English-speaking outlets. Sources stated that there’s an announcement planned for this week, specifically for Friday in Las Vegas. TKO is currently promoting Terence Crawford vs. Canelo Alvarez in Las Vegas, which is sponsored by Riyadh Season.
Sources close to the matter say that they expect three events next year in Saudi Arabia between the Royal Rumble and events in May and November, as has been previously noted. It’s not clear if this announcement will affect that. Saudi officials have wanted a WrestleMania in the country since the start of their relationship with the company and have been clear about that.
The report adds that there is a belief internally at WWE that the company trying to establish WrestlePalooza as an important brand was a way to help expand major global events and get more site fees, creating events that potential hosts are willing to bit on.
ORIGINAL: WrestleMania is reportedly set to take place in Saudi Arabia in 2027. PWInsider reports that a press release was issued on Wednesday announcing that WrestleMania 43 would be held in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
The release was apparently sent out earlier than intended and has since been pulled. However, the outlet has confirmed that the story is legitimate and that an announcement is coming soon.
This would make for the first time WrestleMania has taken place outside of North America. Saudi Arabia has a major deal with WWE and is set to host the 2026 Royal Rumble.
