WWE Advertising Randy Orton for May 29th WWE SmackDown

Randy Orton could return to WWE television very soon. The Viper has been absent from weekly programming since WrestleMania 42, where he failed to dethrone Cody Rhodes as the Undisputed WWE Champion.

After missing several weeks, Orton is now being advertised for the May 29 episode of Friday Night SmackDown. The May 29 episode of SmackDown will serve as the go-home episode ahead of the Clash in Italy Premium Live Event (May 31). The Olympic Arena in Barcelona, Spain, will be its host.

As noted above, Orton failed to beat Cody for the Undisputed WWE Title in the main event of WrestleMania 42 Night One. According to reports, he was initially set to emerge victorious in Las Vegas before plans changed with the view of extending the feud beyond ‘Mania. Orton ended his association with Pat McAfee at ‘Mania, as he RKO’d the ESPN host in the closing moments of the bout.

However, it cost him dearly, as Cody Rhodes capitalized on the situation, delivering a decisive Cross Rhodes to retain the title. However, Randy had the last laugh, as he blasted Cody with the belt and punted him to close out the show. Cody is currently feuding with Gunther, and they are likely set to face each other at Clash in Italy. It will be interesting to see how Randy Orton gets himself involved in the title picture again.
