WWE News: Notes On Ethan Page’s NXT Debut, Sexyy Red Praised Backstage, Gigi Dolin Not At Show

– A new report has some notes from last night’s eventful episode of WWE NXT, including some details on Ethan Page’s surprise debut. As noted, Page debuted on last night’s show and took out Trick Williams in the closing moments and is confirmed to have been signed to the company. Fightful Select reports that NXt has been interested in bringing in Page since it was reported he had left AEW. Shawn Michaels served as a stand-in for Page during rehearsals and Booker T was listed in Page’s place on rundowns, with Shinsuke Nakamura’s theme played during the rehearsal.

It was also noted that Johnny Russo was listed as the writer for the segment, and that Vic Joseph’s allusion to AEW was (to little surprise) scripted.

– The report notes that Sexyy Red, who appeared on the show and will be the host of NXT Battleground, was praised by sources in NXT and was said to be easy to work with. She is expected to make more appearances on NXT TV after her Battleground gig; one source compared her presence moving forward as similar to Poppy, who has made a number of appearances on NXT previously.

– Gigi Dolin was not backstage at this weeks show and her storyline with Arianna Grace is confirmed to have been dropped, though there is no word yet on why.

– The report notes that last night’s show was chaotic bacsktage, as several crew members didn’t arrive until early on Tuesday and there were some frayed nerves throughout the backstage crew by the time the show went on air.

– The internal title for the episode was “Sexyy Red Is NXT”.
