Note on WWE Plans for Dueling El Grande Americano Characters

After weeks of speculation on how Chad Gable was going to return, we found out at the Royal Rumble. He’s here under the old mask as the original El Grande Americano, proving what we already knew — the one who was active is a no-good impostor! (No, actually what we all know is it’s Ludwig Kaiser, who is neither American nor a luchador).
In today’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer confirms they’re headed for a confrontation, especially after Gable’s original interfered in Kaiser’s match with Je’Von Evans. The replacement Americano, however, has the backup of Rayo and Bravo (Pete Dunne and Tyler Bate). The original Americano is on his own, though perhaps Evans owes him one now. Chad Gable had the backing of the Creed brothers, but not in his Americano persona, yet.
Meltzer expects it will end in a mask versus mask match. All involved are too talented to not return to their classic identities at some point. But can it be that Chad Gable might come out of this looking like the good guy? The original point of the gimmick was to showcase him as a bald-faced liar, but if someone deceived him further with the gimmick, who’s the real villain?
Shoosh! We should find out soon enough.
