WrestleVotes Radio on Fightful Select has a report on a last-minute change that was made to last week’s WWE SmackDown, where a planned segment was ultimately scrapped. According to the report, an angle was planned where The Miz was going to attack Ilja Dragunov.

The angle would’ve eventually led to The Miz and Ilja Dragunov facing off in a match at some point. However, the angle was ultimately removed from the show. It’s said that the storyline made it into some very late drafts for last week’s SmackDown, but it did not end up coming to pass.

It’s unknown if the storyline was completely scrapped or if it’s merely been delayed. Dragunov and Miz did appear in a segment on last week’s show where they argued about who should get a US Title shot against Carmelo Hayes. Hayes then appeared, stating that Dragunov would receive a shot later on, but said he’d be facing Miz later that night.

Hayes later wrestled Miz in a non-title match, which Hayes won. WWE has not yet announced when the US Title rematch between Carmelo Hayes and Ilja Dragunov will take place. Hayes previously defeated Dragunov to win the WWE US Championship on the December 26 edition of Friday Night SmackDown.
