As every viewer of WWE Premium Live Events knows, it’s pretty standard practice that at some point on the show, the commentators, or maybe even a performer brought out to the ring, will boast about how the event has set a new record, either for attendance or ticket gross. That may become less and less common, if the PLEs ever follow a WWE ticket sales trend that’s becoming evident in house shows.

Per the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, WWE ticket sales for several shows seem to be cooling. Meltzer notes that Christmas week advances in particular look weak, as that is traditionally the biggest week for house shows. He adds that several WWE shows have ticket sales numbers that look a lot like AEW shows from a year ago, with the four remaining John Cena shows along with RAW in Orlando being the main ones that stand out.

Even John Cena’s final Raw in Boston still has 1,016 tickets left. Among some other numbers, the 11/17 RAW in Madison Square Garden in New York City has sold 14,361 tickets with 2,129 left. The 12/13 Saturday Night’s Main Event in Washington, DC, with the Cena retirement match, is at 15,011 tickets sold with 990 left. The 12/19 Smackdown in Grand Rapids, MI for a double taping is at 1,498 tickets sold.

Nonetheless, the newsletter notes, “WWE set 35 different new market gate records, largely based on higher ticket prices in every market.” Still, if house show numbers continue this way, “these numbers show that the boom itself is over. So expect some big creative moves.”

Melzer also notes that the 10/31 WWE Smackdown in Salt Lake City, Utah at the Delta Center only drew 4,226 fans in an arena that holds 14,000. This caused WWE to have to move fans up to fill out the bottom half of the arena. Meltzer noted that high WWE ticket prices is making it difficult to draw big crowds in the same city for two straight shows.

Some additional ticket sales numbers for WWE: Tonight’s Smackdown has sold 5,197 tickets. The 11/13 NXT in St. Paul, MN has sold 1,852 tickets. The 11/14 NXT in Green Bay, WI has sold 1,245 tickets. The 11/14 Smackdown in Albany, NY has sold 5,895 tickets. The 11/15 NXT in Chicago has sold 785 tickets. The 11/18 NXT at the Theater in MSG is at 1,831 tickets sold. 11/21 Smackdown double taping in Denver, CO, is at 8,425 tickets sold. 11/24 Raw in Oklahoma City, OK, is at 5,033 tickets sold. The 12/1 Raw in Glendale, AZ, is at 6,013 tickets sold. The 12/8 Raw in Kansas City, MO, is at 4,985 tickets sold. The 12/15 Raw in Hershey, PA, is at 4,507 tickets sold.
