Xia Brookside Says No One In NXT Battle Royal Knew Wren Sinclair Was In The Match

Xia Brookside says that no one in last week’s NXT battle royal knew that Wren Sinclair was in the match under the guise of Lady Shani. As noted, Sinclair won the battle royal that main evented last week’s show to earn a shot at the NXT Women’s Championship at NXT Halloween Havoc. She won the match despite being suspended by wearing Lady Shani’s costume as a disguise.
The match had talent from TNA among competitors, including Brookside. She spoke with Busted Open After Dark and said that no one in the match was aware that it wasn’t actually Lady Shani.
“I was surprised, because I had no idea either,” Brookside said (per Fightful). “I had no idea. None of us had any idea for the whole day that that was happening, that that was who that was. None of us. It was very much like, ‘Well, she doesn’t speak English,’ so, ‘Hi.’ That’s it. I was like, ‘OK.’”
She continued, “Found out in the match when everyone else found out, so that was a crazy turn of events. I thought it was great. I thought the reveal was awesome and the fact that none of us knew either just made it even better.” She added, “She wasn’t even there for most of the day and none of us had counted to even notice one was missing.”
While Sinclair earned an NXT Women’s Championship with the win, her suspension complicated the matter. Robert Stone said he will address the matter on this week’s NXT.
