Zelina Vega Says She Didn’t Like Her WWE Women’s US Title Run, Wanted To Do More With the Belt

Former WWE Women’s United States Champion Zelina Vega and her husband, Aleister Black, were among last week’s WWE releases. During a recent Twitch livestream following her release, Vega reflected on her two-month run as WWE Women’s US Champion last year.

Vega noted that she wasn’t happy with her title run, as she wanted to do more and make the belt a workhorse title. Zelina Vega commented (via WrestlingInc.com), “I didn’t like it because I wanted to do so much more with that. I asked, and begged, and pleaded, and screamed; I wanted that title to be the workhorse title.”

Vega won the title from Chelsea Green on WWE SmackDown on April 25, 2025, becoming only the second Women’s US Champion in WWE history. She lost the title 63 days later to Giulia on SmackDown in June 2025.

During her title run, Vega only had one televised title defense, beating Chelsea Green in a rematch at WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event on May 24, 2025.
