* Disclaimer I will be doing what I did with the Best of the Super Juniors tournament, I will just be reviewing the tournament matches from each day. They are what matters, and I don’t worry about burning out.

* Much like day two this is a single camera, no commentary event. Bloc B is getting boned on the presentation.

Tomohiro Ishii defeated Yujiro Takahashi: Tomohiro Ishii defeated Satoshi Kojima on night two in a good match, while Yujiro Takahashi lost to Hirooki Goto in a blah match. They had an ok match to kick off the tournament bout, but it s nothing special. Takahashi took control early by jumping Ishii, he worked him over for what felt like it lasted too long, and then he hit the Tokyo Pimps and Ishii surprised. Ishii then made his comeback and won with the brainbuster. It was fine, but you can skip this one to ensure expedited viewing of the tournament matches.

Satoshi Kojima defeated Michael Elgin: On night two, Satoshi Kojima lost to Tomohiro Ishii in a good match, while Michel Elgin lost in a great effort to Kazuchika Okada. Both men are looking to get on the board here. They worked a good back and forth match, as previously mentioned, the G1 style really seems to cater to someone like Elgin, and while not as good as his match with Okada, I thought that the match was good. They worked well together, although the finish looked a bit clunky as they fought up top and I guess Kojima was supposed to float over or slide out to counter, but it looked like he fell and it felt off; whatever happened it wasn’t exactly smooth. Elgin then thought it would be a good idea to take to the air, so he jumped off of the second rope and was fed a delicious helping of lariat for the pin.

Karl Anderson defeated Hirooki Goto: Karl Anderson defeated Shinsuke Nakamura on night two in the first real upset of the tournament, although the match (while good) was a bit disappointing. On the same night Hirooki Goto defeated Yujiro Takahashi in a blah match. Both men are looking to get to four points and to take a dominant position in the standings. This was another good match, they worked well together but I was hoping for a bit more. It almost felt as if they were teasing that it would get really good, but just never kicked into the next gear. The finish was really nice though as Goto went for the shouten kai, but Anderson countered it into the stun gun and picked up the win. I really liked that finish.

Shinsuke Nakamura defeated Yuji Nagata: As previously mentioned, Shinsuke Nakamura lost to Anderson on night two and looks to get in the board. Nagata beat Honma on night two in quality match, and is looking to make some room and get at the top with Anderson. Nakamura may be a great worked, and Nagata has a great career and can still work some magic; but wit that being said these never feel as if they work well together. It also feels as if they are struggling with each other go get a really good match. Call it lack of chemistry or not being on the same page, these two together just do not equal great matches. This was good, the crowd got into Nagata when he had a tease of the arm bar and then when he applied it later. This felt pretty pedestrian overall until the final few minutes when they really got things Rollins, again nothing bad in the match, it just didn’t click as it should have. I appreciated the frantic ending, the teases and connections of the Boma ye, but it didn’t make it great. Nakamura wins to get on the board, and still feels as if he’s on cruise control early in the tournament.

Kazuchika Okada defeated Tomoaki Honma: Kazuchika Okada defeated Michael Elgin in a really good match on night tow, while Honma lost a hard fought battle against Nagata. They had a really good, but not great match. In many ways it was about what I expected, Honma gets the crowd to buy into him, he gets some near falls and we have an electric environment. He then goes for one kokeshi too many and that always leads to his downfall. They had an issue with the tombstone spot late in the match, but did cover it pretty well so it didn’t really hurt things. Okada scored with the German and then went straight into the rainmaker for the win. This was a very enjoyable man event, and one day, one day that glorious bastard Honma will win a major match and it will be awesome. It’s funny, every time I think that I am sick of the Honma loser angle, every time I am ready to move on, I get pulled in and these live crowds simply love him. That Okada kid is good too.

* End scene.

* Thanks for reading.

Nothing blow away awesome this time around, but another good set of matches as a whole. Takahashi vs. Ishii is a match to skip, but the rest is fun and quality wrestling.
