Marion Reneau Says She Didn’t Perform Her Best Against Holly Holm

February 21, 2016 | Posted by Joseph Lee

In an interview with MMA Junkie, Marion Reneau (6-2 MMA, 2-1 UFC) said she’s hoping to rebound from her UFC Fight Night 71 loss to Holly Holm (10-0 MMA, 3-0 UFC) with a win against Ashlee Evans-Smith (3-1 MMA, 0-1 UFC) tonight at UFC Fight Night 83. Here are highlights:

On her loss to Holm: “It was one of those things where I didn’t feel like I performed up to my ability. I can’t 100 percent explain why. It was just one of those things where you have to reevaluate and take a hard look at it. It’s not to say to take anything away from Holly. She did and has done an amazing job, so kudos to her on that.”

On if she will be thinking about her loss in this fight: “I don’t really base on who I’ve fought on how I will fight in my next fight. Every opponent is different, so I don’t look at it and say, ‘Hey, I went up against the champion.’ No, it’s not like that at all for me. I don’t go in thinking too much about who it is or where I’m at or what I’m doing,” she said. “I just go in there and do it.”
