Kristen Wiig Confirmed For Cheetah In Wonder Woman 2

In a post on Twitter, director Patty Jenkins confirmed the news that Kristen Wiig will play the villainess Cheetah in Wonder Woman 2. She wrote:

So excited to confirm the most thrilling news. Yes! It’s true! So incredibly lucky to welcome the sensationally talented Kristen Wiig to our Wonder Woman family. Jenkins will direct the sequel from a script she’s writing with Dave Callaham and Geoff Johns. The film stars Gal Gadot and Chris Pine. It arrives on November 1, 2019. It will be set in the 1980s during the Cold War.

This version of Cheetah will be Barbara Ann Minerva, who is a British anthropologist that becomes the avatar of the cheetah god after finding the lost city of Urzkartagan and stumbling into the middle of an ancient ritual. She is the third Cheetah and first appeared in Lein Wein’s Wonder Woman, Vol. 2, #7 (1987).
