Samuel L. Jackson Would Like to Play Nick Fury Into His 80s
Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, actor Samuel L. Jackson spoke about reprising his role as Nick Fury for Captain Marvel and wanting to continue to play the character.
According to Jackson, who is 70 years old, he would be fine with playing the role of Nick Fury well into his 80s. He has played the character since his first appearance as Fury in 2008’s Iron Man. He will set to appear as Fury in both Captain Marvel and Spider-Man: Far From home due out this year. Jackson stated, “I could be the Alec Guinness of Marvel movies.”
The article mentions that Jackson’s asking price has gone up since his original 2008 deal to play Fury. When Iron Man 2 was in the works, there were rumors of a salary dispute with Jackson before filming started.
The article suggests that future negotiations with Jackson could get “more interesting” as Marvel Studios has been “famously thrifty” regarding salaries in the past. Jackson added, “I’m a gunslinger now.”
Captain Marvel arrives in theaters on March 8. Spider-Man: Far From Home arrives in theaters on July 5.
