HBO’s Watchmen Series Adds Hong Chau to Cast

Deadline reports that Hong Chau (Downsizing, Homecoming, Big Little Lies)) has been cast in HBO’s upcoming Watchmen series. She will reportedly play a “key role” in the show, that of a Vietnamese woman named Lady T.

The show will be loosely based on the world and themes of Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons’ graphic novel, but will not an adaptation of the original story. Instead, it is expected to be an entirely new story with new characters. Lady T is not in the original story, though Vietnam, the Vietnam War, and President Nixon’s role in it all was a key part. Dr. Manhattan and the Comedian both spend time in Vietnam in the original story.

Watchmen is set to premiere sometime this year.
