Shaft Reboot Trailer Arrives Online

New Line Cinema and Warner Bros. have released the new trailer for the upcoming sequel/reboot of the Shaft franchise. You can check out the new trailer below.

The upcoming film is directed by Tim Story and stars Samuel L. Jackson, Jessie T. Usher, and Richard Roundtree as the original John Shaft. Usher portrays John Shaft Jr., the son of Samuel L. Jackson’s character. It serves as both a reboot and a sequel to the 2000 reboot that starred Jackson, which itself was also a sequel/reboot to the 1970s film series that starred Richard Roundtree, who returned in the 2000 film. He appears once again in the role here. Here’s an official synopsis:

JJ, aka John Shaft Jr. (Usher), may be a cyber security expert with a degree from MIT, but to uncover the truth behind his best friend’s untimely death, he needs an education only his dad can provide. Absent throughout JJ’s youth, the legendary locked-and-loaded John Shaft (Jackson) agrees to help his progeny navigate Harlem’s heroin-infested underbelly. And while JJ’s own FBI analyst’s badge may clash with his dad’s trademark leather duster, there’s no denying family. Besides, Shaft’s got an agenda of his own, and a score to settle that’s professional and personal.

The film is due out in theaters on June 14. It will be released in North America by Warner Bros. and overseas by Netflix.
