The vampires of What We Do in the Shadows have at least another year to get into trouble. FX has announced that the supernatural comedy mockuseries has been renewed and will return for a third season.

The move is not a surprise, as the series has improved a touch on its season one ratings thus far with a 0.19 demo rating, up from season one’s 0.18. Shows, particularly genre shows, have a tendency to fall in successive seasons as a general trend.

Nick Grad, President of Original Programming at FX Entertainment, said in the announcement, “We’re incredibly happy that critics and audiences are all in on Shadows. Week in and week out, the producers, writers and our amazing cast continue to make one of the funniest and best comedy series on TV.”

The show stars Kayvan Novak, Natasia Demetriou, Matt Berry, Mark Proksch, and Harvey Guillén and follows the nightly exploits of a group of vampire roommates — Nandor (Novak), Nadja (Demetriou), Laszlo (Berry), and Colin Robinson (Proksch) — as they navigate the modern world of Staten Island with the help of their human familiar, Guillermo (Guillén). Season two is described as follows:

In season two, the vampires try to find their way in a world with human Super Bowl parties, internet trolls, an energy vampire, as well as all the ghosts, witches, necromancers, zombies and shadowy cloaked assassins who roam freely in the Tri-State area. Is Guillermo destined to be a vampire or a vampire hunter?
