Fede Alvarez To Write, Direct Alien Film For Hulu Release
Fede Alvarez is jumping into the world of Alien, as the Don’t Breathe director will write and direct a new film in the series for Hulu. THR reports that Alvarez’s film, which will be exclusive to the streaming service, will be a standalone film in the universe.
According to the site, the movie is part of 20th Century Studio’s plans to make make more than 10 movies a year for the service. Details on the new film have yet to be revealed, though it is unconnected to the previous entries and came from a pitch Alvarez casually made to Ridley Scott several years ago. Scott reportedly called Alvarez last year and asked if he was interested, with 20th Century Studios signing off on it due to the strength of the pitch.
The film will be produced by Scott via his Scott Free banner. This will be the first Alien film since Scott’s own Alien: Covenant bowed to mixed reviews and financial disappointment in 2017.
Hulu also has an Alien series in the works from Legion and Fargo creator Noah Hawley, which will be an eight to ten episode show set on Earth at some point in the future.
