– As previously reported, WWE SVP of Live Events Jeff Jarrett will be competing in Ric Flair’s Last Match later this month. Jarrett will be teaming with Jay Lethal against Ric Flair and Andrade El Idolo. While Jarrett is currently a WWE executive, Dave Meltzer explained on Wrestling Observer Radio why Jarrett is being allowed to work the Last Match show and compete in a wrestling match with AEW wrestlers.
According to Meltzer, while Jeff Jarrett is currently the WWE SVP of Live Events, he doesn’t have a WWE talent contract at the moment, enabling him to work the Last Match show.
Despite this, Jarrett is working a TV angle for WWE at the moment. The night before at WWE SummerSlam 2022, Jarrett is scheduled to serve as the special guest referee for the WWE Tag Team Championship match between The Usos and The Street Profits.
Ric Flair’s Last Match is scheduled for Sunday, July 31 in Nashville, Tennessee. It will be streamed live on FITE TV.
