WWE Had Reportedly Planned to Have Randy Orton Turn on Matt Riddle

– While speaking to Give Me Sport, wrestling insider WrestleVotes revealed that WWE had originally planned for Randy Orton to “immediately turn on Matt Riddle” when he was ready to get back into the ring. However, Orton’s recent injury put him on the shelf longer than originally anticipated, so those plans to split up RK-Bro fell by the wayside.
WrestleVotes stated, “When Randy Orton went down, the plan was for him to come back and immediately turn on Matt Riddle.” The plans were drawn up when Orton was initially injured in May, when Vince McMahon was still in charge as Chairman and CEO of the company.
As previously reported, Orton was sidelined with a back injury in May that’s expected to keep him out of action for the rest of the year. There is also concern in WWE on the severity of his injury.
Since Orton’s injury and plans were made to have him turn on Riddle, McMahon resigned as head of the company, and Triple H was named the new Chief Creative Officer. Stephanie McMahon is now serving alongside Nick Khan as Co-CEO.
It’s currently unknown when Randy Orton will be able to return to the ring.
