Sony Sets New Venom 3 Release Date Following End Of SAG-AFTRA Strike
Films are ready to get back into production following the end of the actor’s strike, and Sony has accordingly set a new release date for Venom 3. Deadline reports that the third film in the Spider-Man antihero’s franchise is now set for November 8th, 2024.
That’s a bit later than the original release date. Sony had originally staked out a July 14th, 2024 date, but that was scuttled once the SAG-AFTRA strike carried on. With the strike over following the tentative deal struck between the studios and the guild, production is set to resume before the end of the year.
Tom Hardy is back as Venom and Eddie Brock in the new film, which is directed by Kelly Marcel who wrote the screenplay from a story she worked up with Hardy. Plot details are under wraps.
Though they have not been loved by critics, the Venom films have been big hits for Sony with a combined $1.363 billion worldwide between the two films on a combined production budget of around $220 million. The new film reportedly has a budget of $75 million, though the delays are likely to have grown that cost some.
