Shawn Levy Reportedly Top Choice To Direct Next Avengers Film
With Deadpool & Wolverine releasing later this summer, director Shawn Levy is reportedly Marvel’s top choice to direct the next Avengers film. Deadline reports that Levy is the studio’s top pick to direct the fifth Avengers film and has had early talks about the possibility. Levy has reportedly been given the latest script by Michael Waldron, though he has not given an answer about taking the job and Marvel is still meeting with other directors as they await his decision.
Levy is not guaranteed to be taking the job, as he will be heavily involved in the final season of Stranger Thingsa as a director and EP, and also has an untitled Star Wars film on his plate.
Marvel has been working on putting things together for the next Avengers film to begin production next year at some point and sources close to the matter say that up to 60 MCU characters could reprise their roles. Plot details are unknown for the film; it was originally set to be centered around Kang, but it’s not clear if that is still the case following Jonathan Majors’ exit from the franchise after he was convicted of reckless assault on his ex-girlfriend in December.
